WW Slow Cooker Chicken and Turkey Recipes with Cooking Tips
You can cook any cut of chicken in the slow cooker: thighs, breasts, legs, even whole chickens. Bone-in and boneless chicken have different cooking requirements. Here are some tips to keep in mind:
- Chicken cooked on the bone takes longer to cook and is also less likely to overcook.
- Boneless, skinless chicken breast meat can become tough and dry when cooked for longer than six hours on low and can sometimes be done in as little as four hours.
- Boneless, skinless chicken thighs are less likely to dry out.
- It's usually best to remove the skin since it doesn't crisp during cooking and can make the dish too greasy. If you do leave the skin on during cooking you will want to remove and discard it before serving.
- Vegetables in crockpot recipes should go into the bottom of the crockpot, with the meat on top, because vegetables cook more slowly than meat. This arrangement will also help prevent the chicken from overcooking.

When the family is in the mood for a "comfort food", I enjoy making Meatloaf in my slow cooker.
1 - 1 1/2 lbs ground Turkey
2 beaten eggs
3/4 cup milk
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup onions
2 Tbsp parsley
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground sage
1/8 tsp pepper
Spray crock pot with Pam, shape meat mixture into a loaf and place in slow cooker. Cook on Low for 3 - 4 hours.
I have to admit that some of your recipes are starting to become our family favorite "go to" meals. 🙂

Our family is currently obsessed with crock pot buffalo chicken...2 lbs chicken, 12 ounces of hot sauce, 1 package of Good Seasons dry ranch mix. Leave in crock pot on low for 6-8 ours, take chicken out shred, add 2 TBS light butter to mix and add chicken back in. Heat on low for additional hour. Very versatile dish and low in calories!

Thanks for sharing you crock pot buffalo chicken recipe, Lisa. I've gotta try this soon. I think that's the same combination my Mom used to make for chicken wings. But this is so very much healthier!!

One of my favorites is chicken noodle soup. Two large containers of chicken broth; chopped onions, carrots & celery; at least 2 pounds of chicken - frozen chicken breasts is fine; seasoned salt, cracked black pepper, marjoram, italian seasoning, a bay leaf or two. Cook 6 hours or so until the chicken is cooked through. Cook about 6 oz of wide noodles on the stove to add at the end so they don't get mushy. While the noodles are cooking I remove the chicken breasts and shred them. I love to serve it with some crusty bread. 🙂

Thanks for sharing your delicious recipe for chicken noodle soup, Stephanie.

You are so right, Marie. There's nothing like the smell of dinner ready and waiting at the end of a busy day.
