Thanks Martha, this site has been a big help to me. I've lost 32 lbs so far in 7 months, but I am at a stalled place not, so I think this will get me back on track. Not sure how much more I want to lose, but I definitely feel better and "look" better (at least thats what my family tells me)!

I Made A Few Changes To Your Carrot Cake Baked Oatmeal And It Came Out Perfect!
Hi Martha - I tried the Slow Cooker Carrot Cake Oatmeal recipe. I tweaked it slightly in that I used unsweetened Vanilla Almond milk. I used a 1/4 cup of brown sugar and two stevia Sweetner packets. I baked it in a casserole dish, as opposed to the slow cooker, for 60 minutes at 325F degrees. It came out perfect, moist and delicious. I also cut it into 9 pieces instead of 8. Your 28-Day Smart Start Has Great Ideas & I Plan to Implement Them, Especially the Journaling
I just ordered your 28-day challenge. I've tried Weight Watchers numerous times, but I feel like at this point I don't want the pressure of having to weigh in. Reading this felt like a friend was sitting down with me, helping me to really assess what I'm thinking and feeling.
I've already started by deciding that I don't need sugar in my life. It is a huge trigger. I have to have a little measure of success if not through a scale, though in the end I do want to lose weight.
I'm ready to make the lasting changes, and I want to be gentle enough on myself that I don't give up. Not seeing numbers on the scale go down fast is really discouraging.
I've already thought about making soups, I do carry snacks but not routinely enough-I work nights at a labor intense job, so that is really important. There is always food out at the locations I clean. I try to always have a water bottle with me.
I'm starting to have some health issues that are making me look at different types of exercise than what I've done in the past (arthritic hip, back problems). I just don't want to keep doing the same things and find myself getting worse as time goes on.
Thanks, this little book has great ideas and I plan to implement them, especially the journaling. I know that does help. You have to find the problem to find solutions. Just wanted to share and realize I probably would benefit from a buddy doing this with me! I feel encouraged.

Hi Martha - I get ideas from recipes and always end up doing my own thing. But I love making food in large batches, cooking one full day a week. I then freeze some and when I have nothing in the refrigerator, I head to the freezer.

Martha, Thank you for sharing profound wisdom. I am a writer. I just began my career as a writer six months ago. I am working on a memoir. There will end up being two memoirs ... one about my childhood (abuse I endured at my father's hand) and one about my adulthood (how I was set up to become a victim by the way I was raised and how I overcame that victim status). I hope to be a beacon of hope to women who have struggled with abuse, both as a child and later as an adult.
Your email about change resonates with me. No one in my family ever encouraged me to develop and use my talents. It has taken me most of my adult life to get to this point. I embrace my talent and write every day with an eye toward being published. A book is a big undertaking and will take the better part of a year.
I am changing also by taking off the 70 lbs I have to lose. I have lost four of the five pounds I had gained back. I am determined to weigh 125 lbs. again and to feel really good about myself.

I would order my salmon with half the plate steamed veggies and a salad with oil & vinegar. I was not a saint the whole time, but I made much better choices while on the road because of your inspiration.

I have lost 30 lbs and I feel wonderful. 60 more to go. I am not following any sort of plan; just eating healthy - salads, steamed and roasted vegetables, lentils, lean fish and chicken, very little beef. Fruit and an occasional treat like reduced fat, stevia-sweetened banana bread (homemade) or a tiny bowl of spumoni (I am Italian).

Martha - I actually joined WW after I started making your recipes. I'd joined Weight Watchers twice before (and tried many other diets), but I always gave up because the food choices seemed too restrictive.
After a few months of using your recipes, especially the slow-cooker ones which I can freeze in individual portions, I decided I might be able to stick with the program this time. I've lost 35 pounds so far, and a lot of that is due to having your recipes available!
I Really Feel Motivated After Reading Your Emails
I have not rejoined WW yet..I joined back in 1972, or so, when it came out and only needed to loose 10 lbs. I have seen many changes since then.
Now I need to loose at least 50 lbs. and I feel my age is not helping. A lot of arthritis and limited movement. Trying to commit.

I used basil-infused olive oil and fresh basil, then added some chicken.

The one sheet pan dinners have been life savers for my family!
We have tried the Rosemary Chicken with Potatoes and the Chicken Fajitas.
Tonight we are going to try the Chicken Parmesan with Zucchini, and we have on our list to try the Shrimp with Broccoli.
Each evening my husband and I chop the veggies and assemble everything on the cookie sheet and in 30 minutes we have a super yummy dinner!
We love the smell of the garlic and herbs as it is cooking.
In the past we have done a lot of frozen food because we are exhausted and in a hurry.
But now, in about the same time, we can make a healthy and very satisfying meal.

Hi Martha - Things are going well! I am not new to WW - I have been in the program off and on over the years and have been successful. I reached my goal and became a lifetime member, but in the past couple of years, a few - thankfully not too many -- pounds reappeared. And, my husband needed to lose weight too.
I bought your bundle of books that includes the slow cooker recipes. I have to say that the cookbooks and recipes have been a godsend. While it takes effort to buy ingredients and get things cooking, the foods are delicious and make my life so much easier!
BTW - I am on the 28-Day Challenge. Some of the advice I knew to do already, but there are some great ideas I am incorporating into my lifestyle!

Martha - I totally needed your thoughts today.
I started my WW journey in January and I have lost 40 pounds. I am doing the online version right now - I will join a class in July and I weigh in on Sundays.
I gained 1 pound this week. It really messed with my head. I looked back to see what I did wrong. I didn't cheat, I don't dip into my weekly points... I am good.
But then I realized I didn't get enough water or budget my meals like I normally do.
So, when I read your thoughts from your walk... It made all the difference to me.
I am not perfect, but I have come a long way and I am doing it!
