I can’t believe how excited I am about this post! I never saw myself as one who would jump on the juicing bandwagon. It all seemed too extreme. The words “fast” “cleanse” and “detox” are anxiety provoking. I’m not ready to give anything up in the name of juice!
Then I had a lightbulb moment: Does juicing really mean having to give anything up or was that just how I chose to see it? Why couldn’t I just add fresh juice to my diet without taking anything away? (DUH, I know. If you want to read more about how I got here you can read this post about juicing and Weight Watchers.)
So, Pete and I have decided to celebrate the month of August with 30 days of juicing we have dubbed, “Juice Fest 2014.” With record busting temperatures here in Phoenix the timing couldn’t be better. My desire to cook has evaporated with the heat, so why not use this time to explore juicing ๐
Each day, for 30 days, Beginning on August 1, we will share our fresh juice recipes.
They’ll be green juices, red juices, juices for weight loss, juices for energy. You get the idea.
I’ll be adding the links to all the juice recipes to this main post as we go along.
I plan to begin each day with a big glass of fresh juice and see what happens.
Maybe I’ll have a glass as an afternoon snack too. I’m going to play it by ear and discover for myself what all the hoopla is about!
Will I lose weight? Gain weight? Gain energy? Feel better? Feel the same? Will my cravings be affected? Will I be hungrier? More satisfied? I have no idea but I’m looking forward to this month long experiment to find out!
Peter is going to join me.
We hope you will join us in our 30 Days of Juicing Juice Fest.
And we would love to get your thoughts about juicing. Do you have favorite juice recipes to share?

Hi Martha,
Can you give an update on the 30 days? Unfortunately I am unable to find the update.
Did you lose weight? Gain weight? Gain Energy? Feel better? Feel the same? Craving affected? Hungrier? More satisfied?
Thank you!
Hi Stacie, Here’s a link to our Juicing Wrap-Up Post: https://simple-nourished-living.com/30-days-juicing-weight-watchers-wrap-up/ ~Martha
Iโm new with juicing for 30 days.
Do you eat any solid foods after juicing for breakfast?
Hi Juan, Yes, we didn’t do a juice “fast.” We just experimented with adding fresh juice into our life at least once a day. Hope this helps. ~Martha
I was really into juicing a while back. I’ve read quite a bit how “eating” the entire fruit or veggie is healthier (as opposed to just the juice), so I bought a NutriBullet and tried my first NutriBlast today. I winged it, with not a real recipe to follow. Not very good!
Do you have any point of reference for comparing juicing to using a NutriBullet or blender for health “smoothies?”
Thanks!
Anne
Hi Anne, I really don’t have a point of reference for comparing juicing v. healthy smoothies at this point. There are strong arguments for both and I’m a relative newbie, learning and sharing as I go. Peter and I both have VitaMix blenders which also can create healthy smoothies so it’s something we intend to delve more into down the road. You may want to check out the nutriBullet website for nutriblast recipes. Hope this helps!
Hi Martha,
Just watched the powerful video “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead”, highly recommend it. I drink a Nutriblast daily either for b’fast or snack, hooked on it.
However, I love your crock pot recipes and hope you continue, just told several friends about it and we are going to try different ones, all of us on WW.
Hi Lisa,
Yes, “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead” is a powerful video. Good for you for beginning your day with a nutriblast! Pete and I definitely want to explore more about healthy smoothies as we both have vita mixes. Yes, we will be continuing with crock pot recipes indefinitely! As I’ve said, I use mine several times a week. It’s been key for me in being able to maintain my weight loss. Thanks for your thoughtful comment. I really appreciate it.
I really love my Omega. My only piece of advice is that a little celery goes a long way. It can get overpowering fast. I also like adding mint, and ginger is a MUST. Have fun!
Thanks Carbzilla ๐ I’ve had my Omega Juicer for about 3 years now and really love it. One of my favorite juices to make is carrot-ginger, but I really love green juices too! We’re really looking forward to this little juicing “experiment.”
