(30 Days of Juicing Day #20 – Lemon Lime Green Juice Recipe)

It’s now been 20 days since we first started our 30-Day JuiceFest, and I can honestly say that I feel different when I begin my day with a fresh homemade juice.

I think it not only helps to hydrate my body after a night’s sleep, but I also find myself making “healthier” eating choices during the day.

I’m now curious to finish these 30 days and see if it in fact becomes a new daily habit for me.

Lemon Lime Green Juice Recipe

Today’s Lemon Lime Green Juice is adapted from a juice recipe I found on FoodBabe.com. She has a really good article on some of the more common juicing mistakes.

I strongly identified with one mistake in particular and that is juicing kale and spinach over and over again. As FoodBabe says, “Variety is the spice of life… Remember to rotate the greens (kale, chard, spinach, mustard greens, collards, dandelion, arugula, etc.) in your juice each week to prevent build up of oxalic acid…”

One thing I must try do more of is to be more experimental with my green juices. I’m fine picking lots of different fruits, but I tend to juice mostly with kale and spinach. I’ll make it a point to try at least a couple of different greens during these last 10 days.

Recipe Notes

I adapted FoodBabe’s recipe for Lemon Lime Green Juice because I needed a little more sweetness this morning. So, I added in about a cup of red seedless grapes, and that did the trick!

According to my calculations, this juice has about 110 calories and 3 Weight Watchers Points Plus.

Ingredients

  • 2 kale leaves
  • 1/2 bunch spinach
  • 1/2 bunch parsley
  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 green apple
  • 1 cup red seedless grapes
  • 1 lime
  • 1 lemon

Instructions

  • Wash all produce thoroughly and peel lemon and lime (if desired). It is recommended that you peel cucumber if it’s not organic. Juice all ingredients and serve in a glass over ice.

Notes

Nutritional Estimates Per Serving (about 1 cup): 110 calories and 3* Weight Watchers Points Plus. (I only count the calories from the apple and grapes to determine points. I am not concerned about the negligible calories from the kale, spinach, parsley, cucumber, lemon and lime.)
