WW Recipe of the Day: Dr. Oz Energizing Morning Green Drink Juice Recipe

Since I had such great success with Blake Lively’s Juice the other day, I decided to rev up my juicer (affiliate link) and give another “celebrity juice” a try as we continue our Juice Fest 30 Days of Juicing Experiment. This time it was Dr. Oz’s Green Drink Juice, which I found on JuiceRecipes.com.

I’ve provided directions for making this morning green drink either in a high powered blender (affiliate link) or with a juicer (affiliate link), which is my preferred method.  I guess my taste buds are adjusting to the flavor of these healthy concoctions because I genuinely liked this green juice drink. I thought it was well balanced. Not too sweet and not “too green” if you know what I mean. Score another one for Dr. Oz.

Glass of green juice surrounded by cucumber, spinach, apple, ginger with text 'Dr Oz Green Juice'

According to the site, Dr. Mehmet Oz drinks this green juice recipe every morning, and so does Oprah. He says, “If you’re feeling a little sluggish and slow on the uptake, you’re not alone. Symptoms of peri-menopause include fatigue and memory problems, which may be due in part to fluctuating estrogen levels. For an energy boost that might also give you a cognitive spark, try a glass of the phytoestrogen-rich green drink I swear by.”—Dr. Oz

How’s that for a celebrity endorsement from a most well known doc?

Does Green Juice Help You Lose Weight?

It depends. If you do a “juice diet” or “juice fast” which limits solid food and significantly restricts calories, you may experience weight loss, at least in the short term. The fewer calories you take in while juicing the more rapidly you’ll lose weight.

But weight loss isn’t necessarily the same as fat loss. It’s usually water loss. And you will likely gain the weight back as soon as you go back to your normal eating pattern.

Even if you don’t lose weight the health benefits of juicing fresh fruits, vegetables and leafy greens, include consumption of important nutrients, vitamins and minerals, which are vital for good health

Which juice is best for weight loss?

If you’re considering investing in a juicer and trying out a juice cleanse or some juicing recipes for weight loss, these five fresh juices are worth considering:

  • Grapefruit juice which may keep hunger at bay and speed up metabolism.
  • Kale juice because it’s packed with B-complex vitamins and minerals, which actually help you derive energy from other nutrients.
  • Celery juice which is actually a great post-workout choice because it’s a good source of natural organic sodium, which replaces the electrolytes you lose when you work up a sweat.
  • Cucumber juice which is refreshing and a natural diuretic.
  • Watermelon juice because it has been found to help reduce sore post workout muscles.

Which juice will reduce belly fat?

Juicing can be a good thing, but if your goal is to lose your belly fat, you may want to stick with fresh juices that are lower in sugar. That means creating fresh juice recipes that are heavy on the vegetables and light on the fruit.

Good low-sugar vegetables for juicing include cucumbers, spinach, celery and kale. Also, try to limit the amount you drink to one 8-ounce glass a day.

Or you can make a veggie-focused green smoothie to get the benefits of both the juice and the fiber as you’ll see below.

Is it Okay to Drink Green Juice Everyday?

Most of us don’t eat enough fresh fruits and vegetables. Drinking a green juice every day is an easy way to replenish the nutrients your immune system needs.

How Many Calories and WW Points in this Green Juice?

Juicing for Weight Loss with Dr. Oz’s Green Drink Notes

I used the recipe for Dr. Oz’s Green Drink Juice from JuiceRecipes.com, which is made in a juicer instead of a blender. I guess my taste buds are adjusting to the flavor of these healthy concoctions because I genuinely liked this green juice drink. I thought it was well balanced. Not too sweet and not “too green” if you know what I mean. Score another one for Dr. Oz.

If you are new to juicing, you may find this too “swampy” “earthy” tasting. If you do, try adding an extra apple or two or some pineapple to sweeten it up. Or try something a little more gentle, like this Beginner’s Juice.

Instead of peeling the lemon and lime and running it through the juicer, I just squeezed it in at the end.

If you’ve made this Green Juice, please give the recipe a star rating below and leave a comment letting me know how you liked it. And stay in touch on Pinterest, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for the latest updates.

Can You Make Dr Oz Green Drink in a Blender instead of a Juicer?

Yes, you can make Dr. Oz Green drink in a blender (a high powered blender is best) so it is more like a smoothie, as this video demonstrates. One benefit of green smoothies is the extra dietary fiber they provide.

In a high powered blender such as a Vitamix (affiliate link) blend together the following healthy foods in this specific order:

  • 1-1/2 cups filtered water
  • 1/4 cup parsley
  • 2 apples, cored and chopped
  • 1 cup of spinach
  • 1/2 cup chopped cucumber
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 inch of peeled fresh ginger
  • 2 celery stalks, cut into chunks
  • 1-1/2 cups ice

    1. Yield will vary. It will depend on your juicer, how much it extracts, as well as the size of the various fruits and vegetables.

    1. This Green Drink tastes good which is all I want in Green Juice, regardless of the source 🙂

Tastes great. Is it supposed to make so much juice. I think I got close to 32oz with this recipe. Is there a serving size?

This was bit too “green” tasting for me but I haven’t been drinking very many healthy juices so if you typically like green juices then it’s a good recipe. The celery was just a little too prominent for me so if I try it again I will definitely cut that back a little bit.

My husband and I love this juice and have it every morning!!! I’m currently on WW, again, and it fits right in with their plan!!!
