(30 Days of Juicing Day #25 – Apple Cucumber Celery Juice)

Light, refreshing and not too “green” this apple cucumber celery juice is a pleasant way to begin a hot summer day. I found the recipe on Prolific Juicing where it’s listed as a Weight Loss Juice Recipe.

The blog’s owner, Farnoosh, claims that the primary reason to drink green juice is to feel better. Weight loss is just a bonus. She’s a big advocate of juicing and has even published a book, The Healthy Juicer’s Bible: Lose Weight, Detoxify, Fight Disease, and Live Long (affiliate link).

Apple Cucumber Celery Juice

Ingredients 

  • 3 apples, quartered and cored
  • 2 oranges, peeled
  • 3 stalks celery
  • 1 cucumber, peeled
  • handful parsley
  • 1/2 lemon, peeled
  • 1- inch fresh ginger

Instructions 

  • Wash all the ingredients well. Cut the fruit and vegetables into pieces that will fit into your juicer (affiliate link). Juice and serve over ice.

  2. Hi Martha and Peter, thank you for your responses. I remember my first “juice fest”(so to speak) and I think it lasted for six months. I had just discovered juicing and had managed to snag a decent juicer on sale for 50% off. I was juicing like crazy.

    Juicing tips…you can drink too much carrot juice, LOL!!! I don’t think you had that in mind but many new juicing enthusiasts don’t always know that. I say this as I raise my hand. I used to buy 25 pound bags of huge juicing carrots every week. My son and I loved carrot juice.

    My biggest tip is to not be afraid to experiment. Some juicing ideas cannot be salvaged but most can be. When we first started doing the “juicing thing,” 39 years ago herbs and ginger were not used, just the fruits and vegetables as well as wheat grass if you knew someone who had a wheat grass juicer. I think that the use of ginger, cilantro and parsley have been great addition to juices. They have broadened the spectrum of flavors you can create and are the result of experimentation. If you mix together new flavors you will be contributing to improving the “world of juicing.”

    Cucumber mellows out almost any juice that seems to be “too much,” lemon or lime juice can brighten almost any juice that seems a little flat tasting and a little pear, apple or banana will sweeten up a juice that needs it. These were my “go to” additions that helped to salvage some juicing experiments.

    Juice with herb tea cuts the calories and makes a refreshing summer drink. It also helps to cut some of the “wang” that some object to in the green juices. This combination also helps to get some reluctant children to start drinking juices that they may otherwise turn their noses up at.

    Just have fun juicing and remember it doesn’t have to be complex. Just enjoy yourself. Also, if you are using a centrifugal juicer you can compost the pulp that is left behind.

      Thanks so much for your thoughtful comment! It made my day! Pete and I were genuinely enthusiastic to give juicing a serious try and are glad we did. As a beginner, I feel like I’ve learned tons this month. Do you have any juicing tips or thoughts to share as we begin thinking about our summary post?

      As Martha already mentioned, thank you so much for taking the time to comment. We really do appreciate it. I just wanted to add that while this 30-Day JuiceFest is coming to a close, it doesn’t mean that we won’t be adding new juice recipes in the future. We just won’t be doing it on a daily basis. Like Martha, I’ve learned a lot since I started juicing every day and I intend to continue juicing regularly. I’m sure we’ll have lots more to say – and share – about it in future articles.
