Roasted garlic tastes completely different than raw, turning it mellow, creamy, nutty and sweet.
It’s a wonderful flavorful healthy ingredient you can use in all kinds of ways. It makes a delicious low fat spread on bread. And is a tasty addition to dips, pastas and vegetables like skinny mashed potatoes.
Try roasted garlic in place of fresh garlic in any of your favorite recipes.
If you’ve never roasted garlic, you’re going to be surprised at just how easy it is.
Here’s a post on how to roast garlic in the oven with lots of great pictures from Elise at Simply Recipes. She suggests placing your heads of garlic in a muffin tin to roast, which is kinda clever, but something I wouldn’t recommend. I had a friend who routinely roasted garlic in a metal tart pan, which she then used to make a lemon tart that ended up tasting of garlic!
My favorite way to roast garlic is to wrap it in foil and then place it in a small glass baking dish and pop it into the oven for about 45 minutes as illustrated in this clear an informative quick tip cooking video:
