Recipe Notes, Variations and Substitutions
- No cauliflower rice? Or not a fan? Chopped broccoli or chopped spinach would be good alternatives. As would thawed frozen broccoli, cauliflower and carrot mix.
- No tuna? Canned salmon or canned chicken could be substituted. You could also use chopped or shredded cooked chicken or chopped ham.
- Creamier? Stir in a little light sour cream or Greek yogurt to make the cheese sauce even richer and creamier.

I liked the simplicity of this recipe. Both Rod & I really liked it.
I’m very sorry Martha to not give this a great review. Made this for supper tonight and was very disappointed.
Followed the directions, it turned out dry and tasteless.
I will try to make it again though, but add some onions, garlic, mushrooms fresh thyme and basil. Topped with sliced tomatoes. Instead of the blue box, I think I will try the Velveeta shells and cheese. They are creamier.
Hi Alice, no need to apologize. All of our tastes are different! Your suggestions will be helpful to those wanting a fancier tuna mac! All the best. ~Martha
