Cool, Sweet and Zero Point? Yes, Please.

Staying calm, cool, and collected during the blazing desert summer isn’t always easy. My go-to survival strategies? Escaping into air-conditioned movie theaters, devouring good books, and planning quick getaways whenever possible.

And then there’s watermelon.

I almost always have a container of chilled, cubed watermelon front and center in the fridge—ready to grab when the urge for something sweet and refreshing hits. It’s naturally hydrating, zero points on Weight Watchers for most, and incredibly satisfying when you’re trying to avoid that nightly dive into the freezer for ice cream.

  1. Wow!!! That’s a great question! I am finally taking care of me. I’ve come to realize that I was was a very preoccupied caregiver to my children, elderly parents, volunteering. If I’m totally honest, part of the reason for doing this was to take the limelight away from me. If I’m invisible (to myself) can I eat and do whatever I want with no consequence? I’m 63 and finally feel positive about myself and my lifestyle. I show myself kindness by going to WW meetings even if they may be disruptive to some. I buy healthy foods that I like which I never did before.

  2. Since today is my birthday, I have a lot to be thankful for. I’m retired and love having the ability to spend time with my truck-driving husband when he’s home. When he’s on the road, I love to crochet, watch old B/W movies and work on my family tree. I give myself time each week for special times, like reading a book. God has blessed me so very much and I love it that He is always there each day, reminding me how much He loves me. Knowing peace with my Lord always makes my days better and it reminds me to love myself. God don’t make trash!! So I’ve learned how precious I am to Him.

  3. Reading, eating healthy, exercise. I take time out each day to thank God for the gift of health.

  4. I show myself love by having my “quiet time” first thing in the morning. It’s just for me and I don’t let outside action or noise interrupt my time. I just let my mind wander on positive thoughts and good memories. Our pups even join me on the coach and I get extra love just be having them sit with me…always touching me.

  5. I love to take time with my grandchildren or take time with a book and read. I always keep water by me and thank our Heavenly Father for each day He has given me

  6. I read A quote that said happiness is a habit. So every day I choose to be happy. I do not dwell on negative thoughts And it works for me!

  7. I am 63 years old and had gained weight since having my first child at age 25. It kept creeping on as I raised my family and worked full time. I retired 3 years ago and decided I needed to make a life style change. I took up golf (my husbands favorite sport) but really didn’t change my eating habits. October 27, 2015 I joined weight watchers. I happily adopted the program (first points plus and then smart points) and have lost 50 pounds. I feel like a new person and for proof of how much better I am physically My daughters family (2 little grand daughters) were evacuated from Fort McMurray after a wildfire swept through the city and have been living with us for almost 2 months now. I have been cooking, cleaning and caring for them without feeling tired or physically unable. I still use your weight watchers recipes as I cook for them and they have loved it all. Still try to get in my exercise although chasing after 2 little ones is also a fun exercise. Love my new life.
