If you’re looking for an easy, flavor-packed dinner with minimal effort, this Slow Cooker Honey Sriracha Chicken delivers. With just a handful of pantry staples and a few minutes of prep, your slow cooker does the rest.
The result? Tender, juicy shredded chicken coated in a perfectly balanced sweet-and-spicy sauce. It’s not overly sweet, not overly spicy—just the right mix to keep you coming back for more.
Serve it tucked into lettuce wraps, spooned over cauliflower rice, or piled onto warm quinoa for a simple, satisfying meal.

Why You’ll Love It
- Minimal prep—just stir, cook, shred
- Big, bold flavor from simple ingredients
- High-protein and versatile
- Great for meal prep
Ingredients & Substitutions
- Honey – Adds natural sweetness to balance the heat. You can substitute maple syrup or a sugar-free honey alternative if you want to reduce sugar or Points.
- Sriracha chili sauce – Brings the sweet-spicy kick. Adjust the amount to taste, or swap in another chili garlic sauce if that’s what you have on hand.
- Garlic powder – Provides quick, savory depth. You can substitute 2–3 cloves fresh minced garlic for a more robust flavor.
- Onion powder – Adds subtle onion flavor throughout the sauce. If you prefer, rely on the fresh chopped onion below and omit this.
- Boneless, skinless chicken thighs – Stay tender and juicy in the slow cooker. You can substitute chicken breast for a leaner option, though it may be slightly less moist.
- Onion, chopped – Adds sweetness and texture as it cooks down. Shallots work well here too, or you can leave it out if needed.
- Salt & pepper – Season to taste.

Looks yummy! What difference will using a 6 qt crock make?
Thanks,
Mary
Hi Mary, with a larger crock pot, it will be less full and is apt to cook faster. You’ll just want to keep an eye on it so it doesn’t overcook. ~Martha
I just want to thank you for giving the slow cooker size in your menus. So often recipes for slow cookers don’t recommend what size to use. I have 3 slow cookers…2…4 and 8. Your directions save me from guessing and most likely making a better meal.
I am a terrible typist!
I loved your recipe for honey garkic chicken breasts cut into bute sizedpieces. I wanted to share with my sister who s on WW green. I didn’t copy the points for anything except Blue (FREESTYLE). Could you tell me the points for GREEN?
Thanks so much!!
Leann
Can you use frozen skinless, boneles chicken thighs, or should the chicken thighs be thawed out first? If they are frozen will the timing be different?
Hi Janice, If you use frozen, the recipe will take longer and the sauce may end up more diluted. Hope this helps. ~Martha
Thanks Martha! Delicious cold with tzatziki sauce ! Made with bell pepper and chicken breasts ( no onion or thighs in the house)
Can this be made with breasts instead of thighs?
Yes, Judy, but they will probably be done in less time. You’ll want to keep an eye on them so they don’t overcook and dry out. ~Martha
Martha, what would the Freestyle points be if I used chicken breasts instead of thighs?
Linda, using chicken breasts instead of thighs would make the Freestyle Points 5 instead of 7. ~Martha
Hi,
I ‘m pretty sure I purchased the weekly menu plan via ebooks but can’t find it anywhere. I didn’t save it in the same place as the one for the slow-cooking book. Is there any way to find out?
My name and email are below. thanks in advance
Hi Kathleen – Sorry for not being able to get back to you sooner. We have recently emailed you with download instructions for your purchase. Thanks again for supporting Simple Nourished Living!
Will this completely dry out of cooked longer? I’m someone who works 12 hour shifts and wants a nice meal to come home to.
It’s really hard for most food to cook in the slow cooker for 12 hours. There are many great programmable slow cookers available that will switch to a warm setting once cooked. A good investment for someone who works long days and wants to come home to a nice meal. Here are some suggestions: https://simple-nourished-living.com/resources-for-weight-loss-success/ ~Martha
