Weight Loss Success Story: Eva H.
I'm back to day with another inspiring weight loss success story.
Read on to discover how a serious accident derailed Eva's life & health until she recommitted to using food as medicine and making herself a top priority losing 40 pounds in the process...
Tell Us A Little Bit About Your Weight Struggle
In 1993, my car was totaled in an accident. With 8 continual illnesses, the pain caused me to gain a lot of weight.
Not being able to take pain killers medically, I justified my eating. Eating to comfort myself, and compensate for pain.
I told myself, "I would survive, only be heavy for a short while, and not damage my health."
Finally, I became healthy again after 13 years.
Yet the stress of being laid off for 5 years sent me spiraling again, and back into bingeing.
I watched as many bad habits of mindless eating in my lifestyle defeated me. I had deluded myself thinking I was still healthy.
What Was Your Wake-Up Call Or "A-Ha Moment" That Caused You To Really Commit Yourself To Succeeding?
When having a check-up, finding out that I now had a heart condition, and high cholesterol; life became very serious.
This finally caused me to turn my lifestyle of poor eating habits around.
Also commiting to exercise 5 days a week to stay flexible, and lower my cholestrol.
How Have Your Eating Habits Changed Since Beginning Your Journey? What Did You Eat Before And What Are You Eating Now?
Now I journal, plan out my meals, and keep certain foods out of my house.
I choose healthy snacks in between meals to keep from bingeing.
I used to grab for sugar, or bread before. Now I grab for high protein & low carb foods.
Allowing myself to enjoy freshly made foods, instead of processed foods.
My cooking style has changed because of Weight Watchers and Spark People, where I learned tools to succeed. How to eat, what to eat, and how to cook.
What Is The Difference In Your Fitness Before You Started And Now?
Because of my accident, life's stress kept me from putting myself at the top of my list.
I realize that if you aren't taking care of yourself, you won't be healthy enough to enjoy life.
When exercising, doing a lot of variety keeps it from becoming boring.
Now I know "that if I don't move, I won't be able to move."
What Has Been The Biggest Change/Payoff For You So Far?
I'm watching my lifestyle create a balanced emotional person and I am pleased with the results at my doctors visit.
And when I sit down to eat food, I still find it very comforting and enjoyable. But this time I realize my food really is my medicine.
My Favorite Recipe Is…

How Much Weight Have You Lost? How Long Did It Take You To Lose It?
I had 40 pounds to lose and it took me 4 months.
Any Advice and/or Words of Wisdom for Others Who Are Struggling?
Let food be your medicine.
Always remember to put yourself on the top of your list.
Without eating healthy you won't be able to enjoy a long life. Without eating healthy, it can affect not only your health, but your emotions, causing deficiencies.
