WW Recipe of the Day: VitaTops Deep Chocolate Whoopie Pie
Are you a fan of whoopie pies looking for an easy way to enjoy them while trying to watch your weight? Have I got a treat for you! This quick and easy whoopie pie "recipe" is both satisfying and delicious.
If you're a Hungry Girl fan, you're probably already familiar with this lighter quick and easy variation of the whoopie pie.
I love, love, love whoopie pies. They're an old family favorite that my Mom made quite regularly when I was growing up.
For those not familiar with traditional whoopie pies, they are soft chocolate sandwich cookies filled with sweet vanilla-marshmallow cream; a homemade Oreo Cakester, only better. As a lifetime WW, this wonderful rich chocolaty treat is not something I can "afford" to have very often if I want to maintain my weight, since they're really high in calories and Points values.
That's where Hungry Girl comes in. She can be so creative at helping you satisfy your cravings without blowing the bank. I was so excited when I discovered this recipe for Freezy-Cool Whoopie Pies in Hungry Girl's Cookbook Hungry Girl: 200 Under 200: 200 Recipes Under 200 Calories .
To make her Hungry Girl version of a whoopie pie, author Lisa Lillien uses a deep chocolate Vitalicious Deep Chocolate VitaTops and fat free cool whip to construct her Weight Watchers friendly recipe for whoopie pies.
How Many Calories and WW Points in these Shortcut Whoopie Pies?
Each treat contains only 115 calories and:
5 *SmartPoints (Green plan)
5 *SmartPoints (Blue plan)
5 *SmartPoints (Purple plan)
3 *PointsPlus (Old plan)
Since I like it so much better, I usually splurge with 2 tablespoons of whipped cream instead of cool whip (the calories are virtually the same) but the choice is totally yours to make!
If you are not familiar with Vitalicious Vitatops you are in for a treat! They are Healthy Deep Chocolate Muffin Tops that have only 100 calories and actually taste good! They are a diet lover's miracle, available in the freezer section of many larger grocery stores.

WW Friendly VitaTop Whoopie Pie Recipe
- 1 Deep Chocolate VitaTop Muffin Top
- 2 tablespoons whipped cream or fat-free cool whip
Start with one thawed Deep Chocolate VitaTop:
Slice the VitaTop horizontally into two thin rounds:
Spread Cool Whip (or your favorite whipped cream) on one half of the VitaTop and top with the other:
Wrap in plastic wrap and chill in the freezer for about 1 hour, then enjoy.
