These festive baked chocolate donuts are sure to be a welcome addition to any brunch table this holiday season. Starting with just two basic ingredients—devil’s food cake mix and canned pumpkin puree, they mix together by hand in minutes.
Topped with a simple glaze and crushed peppermint candy canes, each lite donut has less than 200 calories—making them much lighter and less sugary than your standard bake shop fried doughnut!

With just a handful more ingredients, these simple baked donuts are a more dressed up version of these 2-ingredient cookies and muffins.

How to Make Mint Chocolate Glazed Donuts
Step 1: Gather and prepare all ingredients.

Step 2: Preheat oven to 400F degrees. Lightly grease a 6-cavity donut pan (affiliate link) with nonstick spray.
Step 3: In a mixing bowl, add the devil’s food cake mix, pumpkin puree, egg whites, peppermint extract and 1/4 cup water. Thoroughly mix until batter is smooth and all cake mix is absorbed.

Step 4: Carefully pour the batter into the donut pan, being sure to distribute it evenly among the cavities. Alternatively, spoon the batter into the pan, or use a piping bag.

Step 5: Bake until set and a toothpick inserted in a donut comes out almost clean, about 10 to 12 minutes.

Step 6: While the donuts are baking, set a cooling rack (affiliate link) over a baking pan or over a sheet of parchment or wax paper (to catch drips from the glaze).
Step 7: When the donuts are done baking, allow to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before removing to cooling rack to cool completely.

Step 8: In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, almond milk, 2-3 drops peppermint extract and dash salt until smooth and thoroughly mixed.

Step 9: Once donuts have cooled, dunk the top halves of the donuts in the glaze and return to cooling rack,

sprinkling with crushed candy cane, or peppermint candies.

Step 10: Allow glaze to set, 5 to 10 minutes, before serving.

Step 11: Store leftover donuts in an airtight container.

Recipe Notes
Use a piping bag to fill your donut pan (affiliate link) for a clean uniform look to your donuts. Simply transfer the batter to a plastic bag and squeeze all the batter down to one of the corners. When you’re ready to fill the pan, simply make a small hole by cutting off the corner of the bag with scissors and squeeze out the batter.
If you don’t have candy canes, any hard peppermint candies will work and once they crushed you won’t be able to tell the difference!

To lower the WW Points and calories even further, simply substitute your favorite sugar-free chocolate cake mix for the regular one.
Ways to Use Leftover Donuts
You can store any leftover donuts in an airtight container for up to three days.
Top a donut with a small scoop of lite vanilla ice or low-fat frozen yogurt for a decadent mint chocolate glazed donut à la mode!
