Do you love ice cream but not all the added sugar and fat found in most store-bought varieties? Have you tried easy homemade cottage cheese ice cream? It’s gone viral across the internet and on TikTok.

It’s so easy to make too. You can sweeten it with your favorite liquid sweetener (honey, agave nectar, maple syrup, etc.) and flavor it with all your favorite add-ins.

To get started, all you need is 2 or 3 common ingredients: whole milk (4%) cottage cheese, liquid sweetener of choice, and vanilla extract (optional). And then it is time to get creative with additional flavors—very vanilla, chocolate, coffee, peanut butter, almond butter, frozen fruit, etc.

  1. 5 stars
so easy and fun! I did substitute greek yogurt for part of the cottage cheese because I had read the comment about cottage cheese’s high sodium content. Still a little salty, but good.

    1. Hi Mary, We’ve not tried it with fat free cottage cheese. If you do we would love to know how it turns out for you. ~Martha

  2. Why does this taste like straight SALT! No salt in recipe and DID not add salt to it! I don’t understand this.

  3. I made this but next time I will half the vanilla and I used powdered stevia in place of agave, used a tablespoon but could have done 1/2 a tablespoon.

    And bigger container lol!

  4. OOPS! I just reread the recipe and it says “whole milk cottage cheese”. It was written o on 2 lines. sorry.
