This cool and creamy Chocolate Yogurt is a delicious nutritious way to satisfy a chocolate craving. Simply stir some unsweetened cocoa powder and your sweetener of choice into plain nonfat Greek yogurt and voilà, you’ve got a chocolaty creamy indulgence that’s healthy and delicious!
I love chocolate, especially the really good dark kind so I always have some on hand to satisfy a craving when it strikes.
But I often have trouble meeting the Weight Watchers Good Health Guideline regarding dairy (2 servings of nonfat dairy a day). So, when I saw this suggestion from a Leader in a recent Weight Watchers Weekly, it was a light bulb moment: A way to enjoy a creamy chocolate treat AND increase my intake of non-fat dairy. (Talk about a win-win!)

This simple yogurt cocoa combination has become a go-to treat for me. Because Greek yogurt is so high in protein, it keeps me satisfied a lot longer than the straight dark chocolate does.
I tend to grab whatever Greek yogurt is most reasonably priced when I shop. Fage, Chobani, Trader Joe’s and Aldi all are personal favorites. (If you are not a fan of Greek yogurt, check out this creamy cottage cheese chocolate mousse instead.)
Ingredients & Substitutions
- Plain Nonfat Greek Yogurt – One of my favorite creamy high protein zero point go-to foods. use whatever yogurt you prefer, just update the points accordingly. Pureed cottage cheese is another great alternative if you don’t like the tangy flavor of yogurt.
- Unsweetened Cocoa Powder – Any kind will work here.
- Sugar Free Sweetener – I used truvia (affiliate link). Use whatever you prefer. Sugar, maple syrup and honey will also work, but increase the WW Points value.
Additions & Variations
This is a recipe you can experiment with. Possible additions & variations include:
- PB2 (affiliate link) (peanut butter flour (affiliate link))
- Chopped nuts
- Instant coffee powder
- Chopped nuts
- Ground cinnamon
- Vanilla
- Flavored extracts (orange, coffee, mint, etc.)
WW Points & Calories
According to my calculations, each serving has just:
- Calories: 79 calories
- WW Points: 1 To see your WW Points for this recipe, track it in the WW App! (You must be logged into WW on a smartphone or tablet.)

Sooo good! It tastes like chocolate sour cream cake. Thanks for the great recipe!
Is this good for a diabetic also?
i add frozen bananas so good!
Another tip. Weight Watcher centers carry coffee creamers that are zero points. I use the creamer in plain nonfat Greek. I love the chocolate and the pumpkin flavors. I mix 1 packet of creamer with 1/2 cup yogurt. So yummy.
What yogurt are you using for 1 smart point? What amount?
Hi Susan, I used 4 ounces or 1/2 cup of plain nonfat Greek yogurt. There are several brands showing up in the WW online Tracker with 1 SP for that amount including Kirkland, Trader Joes, Greek Gods and Stonyfield Farm. Hope this helps.
When I make this, I add a splash of vanilla. It cuts the tang of the yogurt.
Hi Kay, thanks for the great suggestion.
Forgot to add – 5 stars for getting me my chocolate in a healthy way. 🙂
Thanks Jenn! As a fellow chocolate lover, your comment is music to my ears 🙂
Love this, thank you! I used Splenda because that’s what I had in the kitchen. Tastes almost like frozen yogurt. Happy to get my chocolate fix while still being WW friendly. 🙂
This is very tasty and feels indulgent. I used 1 tablespoon of xylitol and 1 tablespoon of Erythritol because I don’t like the tangy taste of the yogurt unless I’m using it to replace sour cream in a savory dish. I’ll be making this frequently,
Hi Tricia, glad you liked it!!
Great idea! And so easy!
