Weight Loss Success Story: Ashlynn D.
Our latest weight loss success story, Ashlynn, shows what you can accomplish when you stay focused on your goals and refuse to give up. She used the hateful comments of a former boyfriend to fuel a commitment to prove him wrong and take charge of her health.
I love her advice, “Never give up that feeling of accomplishment. Remember all of the goals you have and don’t be afraid to be proud of yourself of what you’ve accomplished!”
Tell Us A Little Bit About Your Weight Struggle
I was thin all my life, up until I was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes at the age of 14. I felt as if my life just halted in a stand still.
I didn’t take care of it all back then and I eventually started to binge eat all the way up to 284 pounds.
What Was Your Wake-Up Call Or “A-Ha Moment” That Caused You To Really Commit Yourself To Succeeding?
I was in a relationship with my now ex-boyfriend and he was more fit than I was, but he always complimented me about my body, even though I was extremely over weight and unhealthy.
But, a month after we started dating, he avoided me and eventually we broke up after he told me that I will always be fat and he only dated me because he felt better knowing that no guy would date me because I ate like a pig.
So I told myself that I would prove him wrong and show him a new me in a year.
I began my journey in February at over 280 pounds and eventually lost 62 pounds!
What kept me going was how I felt at 284 pounds, how I looked at all the cute stores and my ex’s comments that made me feel like I meant very little to him.
I just kept thinking, “If I give up now, all my hard work was for nothing.”
How Have Your Eating Habits Changed Since Beginning Your Journey? What Did You Eat Before And What Are You Eating Now?
They’ve improved quite nicely! I used to eat a lot of Starbucks throughout the day, but now I’m on a Paleo diet!
I eat 1200 calories each day and look up new recipes all the time to improve my diet!
What Is The Difference In Your Fitness Before You Started And Now?
Honestly, I hated exercising because I felt as if everyone was laughing in their head or looking at me like “She can’t even do a pushup without getting exhausted.”
What Has Been The Biggest Change/Payoff For You So Far?
I couldn’t fit into any of my favorite stores because I was a 3x-4x, but now I’m a size medium-large!
I feel infinite and have a lot more energy before I did a year ago.
How Much Weight Have You Lost? How Long Did It Take You To Lose It?
I have lost 62 pounds and I’m still losing weight! I am 224.5 lbs. now and my goal is 150. It took me about almost a year to accomplish this.
Any Advice and/or Words of Wisdom for Others Who Are Struggling?
