Best Weight Loss Success Stories of 2017
Tell Us A Little Bit About Your Weight Struggle
I have struggled with yo-yoing weight since age 12. I also had many chronic illnesses like daily headaches, migraines, cystic acne, high blood sugar and chronic sinus infections.
Throughout a twenty year period, my weight always went up and down 20-50 pounds per year.
I was never able to meet a goal weight and I always felt famished and weak.
In 2013, I hit an all-time-high weight of 235 pounds after the birth of my first son.
I also had gestational diabetes and was on the way to Type 2 diabetes as well. I struggled for more than six months to try to take the weight off.
What Was Your Wake-Up Call Or "A-Ha Moment" That Caused You To Really Commit Yourself To Succeeding?
I discovered a book called Kick Your Fat in the Nuts that completely changed my outlook on diet and nutrition.
The book taught me how to improve digestive capabilities and taught me to learn the correct foods for my body chemistry.
Once I figured that out, losing weight and maintaining the loss has been effortless.
How Have Your Eating Habits Changed Since Beginning Your Journey? What Did You Eat Before And What Are You Eating Now?
I used to be the queen of fast food. I also loved anything that came from the frozen section or junk food section at the grocery store.
Now I eat fresh, whole foods. I eat a lot of salads with healthy fat dressings.
Most of my meals consist of healthy protein options, along with delicious fat bombs throughout the day.
I follow a low carb, high fat diet.
It is very delicious and I eat more food than I ever have, while maintaining my lowest weight ever.
What Is The Difference In Your Fitness Before You Started And Now?
I used to be addicted to cardio. I think over use of cardio caused my body to become more inflamed.
Now I do more relaxing workouts like walking and resistance workouts.
I am much stronger and fit than I have ever been, while working out much less.
What Has Been The Biggest Change/Payoff For You So Far?
I no longer think about food all day long.
I am able to live a very easy life without blood sugar crashes or regaining weight.
I also love fitting into a size 6 after many years of barely being able to squeeze into a size 14!
How Much Weight Have You Lost? How Long Did It Take You To Lose It?
I've lost a grand total of 145 pounds.
I lost 80 pounds after the birth of my first son. This took around a year.
I went on to lose another 65 pounds after the birth of my second son. This took around 10 months.
My highest weight was 235. I currently weight 135.
My Favorite Recipe Is...
Tasty Fat Bombs
Ingredients:
- 1 cup crunchy peanut butter (use no-stir peanut butter)
- 8 tablespoons real butter
- 4 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 40-50 drops of vanilla, or caramel, liquid stevia
- Pinch of sea salt
Directions:
- Melt butter and peanut butter together over low-medium heat in a saucepan. Stir until well combined.
- Once melted, remove from heat. Whisk in vanilla extract and heavy whipping cream.
- Stir in sweetener and salt. Taste to adjust sweetness.
- Spoon into mini cupcake liners in 1 tablespoon increments, in mini cupcake pan.
- Place in freezer until firm.
- Remove and store in fridge or freezer in ziploc bag.
TIP: There are two ways to enjoy these tasty fat bombs:
1. Straight out of the fridge or freezer like a typical fat bomb
2. Melt 1-2 fat bombs in a toaster over at 350 degrees for 5 -7 minutes for an extra gooey treat (just like the caramel apple topping)
Any Advice and/or Words of Wisdom You'd Like to Share?
Work on the way your body digests food in order to make this much easier on yourself.
Once you fix the physiological part of this, the weight loss part falls into place.
Also, losing weight is about eating to balance your hormones, not counting calories.
I workout much less and eat way more, while staying in the best shape of my life!
