I’ve got a sweet and refreshing treat for you today. Trisha Yearwood’s famous Creamy Grape Salad has been lightened up to make it more Weight Watchers friendly — without losing any of its creamy charm.

This simple, no-cook dessert salad is cool, creamy, and satisfying. It’s perfect for potlucks, summer cookouts, or when you want a fruity dessert that feels indulgent but still fits into your points budget.

When I first heard about this salad, I wasn’t sure I’d like it. Grapes with a creamy dressing? But one bite convinced me — it’s light, refreshing, and just sweet enough to be dessert. Bring this dish to your next picnic and watch it disappear in minutes.

Tip: Nuts add richness but also increase the points. If you leave them out, each serving drops to about 2 WW Points.

Ingredients

  • Red seedless grapes – Sweet, juicy, and refreshing. Use all red if you like, or substitute with strawberries or blueberries.
  • Green seedless grapes – Add tartness and color contrast. Can be swapped with chopped apples or pears.
  • Light cream cheese – Softened for easy mixing. Neufchâtel is a good substitute.
  • Plain fat-free Greek yogurt – Creamy and tangy. Low-fat sour cream or regular yogurt also work.
  • Granulated sweetener blendTruvia Baking Blend (affiliate link) works well, but any sugar substitute (or sugar itself) will do.
  • Vanilla extract – Enhances the sweetness. Almond extract is a fun variation.
  • Brown sugar – Sprinkled on top for caramel flavor. Can be swapped with coconut sugar or omitted.
  • Chopped nuts – Walnuts or pecans add crunch. Use sliced almonds or skip for fewer points.

Step 4: Finish and Serve

Just before serving, sprinkle with the brown sugar and pecans. Enjoy!

Recipe Notes

  • Be sure grapes are fully dry before mixing — extra water will thin the dressing.
  • Halving grapes makes scooping easier at potlucks, but whole grapes save prep time.
  • Swap grapes for apples, strawberries, blueberries, or even pineapple for variety.
  • Chill before serving — it tastes best after resting a few hours.
  • For lower points, skip the nuts or sprinkle just a few on top.
  • For a fun twist, top with mini chocolate chips instead of nuts for a kid-friendly version.

1/2 a cup of walnuts or pecans has 12 WW Points so if you omit them, each serving of this creamy grape salad dessert will have just 2 WW Points.
Traditional grape salad recipes, including Trisha Yearwood’s, are loaded with sugar and fat, but we made this creamy grape dessert salad recipe healthier by using less reduced-fat cream cheese instead of full-fat cream cheese, substituting plain fat-free Greek yogurt for sour cream, and using Truvia (affiliate link) baking blend instead of sugar and less brown sugar.
I used a combination of red and green seedless grapes, but you could use all of one kind or the other. If you don’t have grapes you can easily substitute other fresh fruit like strawberries, blueberries and even apples. The possibilities are endless!

FAQs

Can I make creamy grape salad ahead of time?
Yes! It’s even better after chilling. Just add the brown sugar and nuts right before serving.

How do I store leftovers?
Refrigerate leftovers in a covered container for up to 3 days. Stir gently before serving again.

What other fruits can I use?
Chopped apples, strawberries, blueberries, or pineapple chunks all work well.

Can I make this without nuts?
Absolutely. Omitting nuts lowers the points and makes the salad allergy-friendly. For crunch, try sliced apples or granola just before serving.

How can I lighten it even more?
Stick with fat-free Greek yogurt and a sugar substitute. You can also reduce the cream cheese slightly.

  1. Is there anyway you could add carbs/fiber/sugars to the nutrient listings? I’m pre-diabetic and I’m working really hard to watch my sugars. Thank you so much!

  2. 5 stars
I felt the same way you did Martha, I really wasn’t sure I would like this but after trying it I LOVED IT!!!! Thanks for all the work you do for us,

  3. There is a picture showing the grapes cut in half in a measuring cup. However, I don’t see cutting the grapes in half mentioned anywhere in the recipe. Are the grapes supposed to be cut in half? Looks like a great recipe that I’d like to try.

    1. Hi Jan, You can either leave them whole or slice in half. It’s up to you. I have updated the recipe to reflect this. -Martha
