Weight Watchers Pina Colada Clean + Lean
WW Friendly Skinny Pina Colada

This Weight Watchers Piña Colada – a clean and lean version of the classic tropical cocktail from Hungry Girl was waiting for me in my inbox this morning. With just 183 calories + 6 Points Plus, it’s the perfect way to indulge in a summertime cocktail without blowing your points plus budget.

Reading her email reminded me of why I struggled with my weight for years: I was blissfully unaware of just how many calories I was consuming. I had no idea that piña coladas were one of the most calorie laden cocktails around. I just knew that they were sweet, rich and creamy and that I liked them.

Now I know that at more than 600 calories, that’s about of one-third of my daily calorie allowance. Yikes!

It’s just this kind of nutritional information that keeps me from sabotaging my weight management efforts and gives me a fighting chance of staying happy, healthy and slim in this out of control food world.

Skinny on Weight Watchers Pina Colada

This cleaned up version of a pina colada is thickened with vanilla protein powder instead of cream of coconut,  which has a rather unappealing ingredient list: coconut, Sugar, Water, Polysorbate 60, Sorbitan Monostearate, Salt, Propylene Glycol, Alginate, Mono and Diglycerides (Emulsifiers), Citric Acid, Guar Gum, Locust Bean Gum. (Reading labels sure can be eye opening.) Vanilla protein powder provides a rich base for minimal calories, with the added benefit of a healthy dose of protein.

While this Weight Watchers Pina Colada might not taste quite as decadent as the traditional kind I used to slip down without a second thought, it’s a whole lot better for me, a compromise I’m willing to make at this age and stage of life.

According to Hungry Girl’s calculations, each serving has 183 calories and *6 Weight Watchers Points Plus. A virgin version will set you back just 2 Points Plus. Enjoy!
