I have always loved toast. It’s warm, comforting, and endlessly adaptable—and when topped right, it becomes one of my favorite easy meals or snacks, any time of day.

Some mornings I want something hearty. Other times, I am craving something light and fresh. And occasionally, I just need to make use of what’s in the fridge before it goes bad. Toast is the perfect blank canvas for it all.

Best of all? With just a few simple ingredients and a slice of good bread, I can whip up something satisfying, nourishing, and Weight Watchers-friendly in just a few minutes.

Whether you’re in the mood for savory or sweet, these are my go-to WW-friendly toast toppings I come back to again and again—for breakfast, lunch, or a light supper.

16+ Easy, Healthy Ways I Love to Top My Toast

1. Nut Butter and Banana

This combo never gets old. A tablespoon of peanut or almond butter, half a banana sliced on top, and a little cinnamon if I’m feeling fancy. Comfort food in a flash.

2. Avocado Smash

Mashed avocado with a squeeze of lemon and a sprinkle of sea salt is hard to beat. Sometimes I add a sprinkling of cheese, tomato slices or a poached egg for a more filling meal.

3. Scrambled Eggs on Toast

This one is a classic in our house. I’ll scramble up an egg or two and spoon it over toast, maybe with some spinach or salsa on the side.

4. Hummus and Veggies

When I’m in a plant-based mood, hummus is my go-to. I love it with lettuce, sliced cucumber, cherry tomatoes, sliced radish and/or shredded carrots on whole grain toast. Quick, light, and delicious.

5. Laughing Cow Cheese with Extras

Those little wedges are magic. I spread one over toast and sometimes add thin apple slices, cucumber, or a drizzle of honey, depending on what I have on hand.

6. Cottage Cheese “Danish”

This is a WW throwback I still love: cottage cheese on toast, sprinkled with cinnamon and a little sugar or stevia, then broiled until bubbly. It tastes like a warm cheese Danish. I also love my latest variation, Bananas Foster Cottage Cheese Toast.

7. Tuna or Chicken Salad

I’ll make a lightened-up tuna salad or chicken salad with Greek yogurt or light mayo and scoop it onto toast for an easy lunch. It’s especially good with a slice of tomato or pickle on top.

8. Egg Salad Toast

When I have hard-boiled eggs in the fridge, egg salad toast is a no-brainer. I keep it simple and sometimes add a little smoked paprika or arugula.

9. Poached or Fried Egg with Veggies

This is one of my go-to quick dinners: toast topped with a fried egg, sautéed mushrooms or spinach, and hot sauce or pesto. Fast, filling, and so satisfying.

10. Peanut Butter and Apple Slices

For a quick afternoon snack, I’ll spread peanut butter and layer on thin apple slices. A sprinkle of cinnamon makes it feel extra cozy.

11. Ricotta Cheese and Berries

When I want something cool and creamy, I spread plain ricotta cheese on toast and top it with fresh or frozen berries. A drizzle of honey and a few chopped nuts make it feel like dessert. You could substitute light cream cheese or Greek yogurt for the ricotta if you prefer.

12. Beans on Toast

This one always surprises me with how good it is. I’ll heat up some baked beans (I like Heinz vegetarian) and spoon them over toast. Sometimes I top it with an egg for extra staying power.

13. Smoked Salmon with Cream Cheese

When I am feeling a little fancy, I spread light cream cheese and top it with smoked salmon, red onion, and a few capers. It is like having brunch at home.

14. Strawberries + Light Cream Cheese

This feels special, but it is super simple—light cream cheese, sliced strawberries, and a touch of lemon zest or honey if I have it.

15. BLT Avocado Toast

This one’s fun! I mash avocado, layer on tomato slices, shredded lettuce, and a sprinkle of bacon bits or turkey bacon crumbles. It’s like a BLT, open-faced style.

16. Or this new favorite toast topper, Cinnamon Raisin Toast with Honey-Walnut Spread

 17. Cinnamon Raisin Toast with Honey-Walnut Spread

This is a recent favorite. I mix Greek yogurt with a little honey and chopped walnuts, spread it over cinnamon raisin toast, and top with thin pear slices. It is so good with a cup of tea.

Bonus: Sweet + Savory Combos I Like to Mix In

  • Hummus + apple + sea salt
  • Ricotta + roasted grapes + balsamic drizzle
  • Cottage cheese + pineapple + cinnamon
  • Mashed sweet potato + turkey bacon bits

Why I Keep Coming Back to Toast

Toast is one of those foods that checks all the boxes for me: comforting, quick, budget-friendly, and endlessly flexible. It’s a great way to use leftovers, sneak in more fiber or protein, or simply get something warm and nourishing on the table when life is busy.

I hope these ideas help you mix things up and make meals feel easier—and more fun—again.

  1. Back in the early days when WW first began, the toast with cottage cheese and cinnamon was a big favorite. There were very few items on the plan and this one…….yum……and over the years I have been having it for breakfast.
