Losing weight is a body, mind and spirit proposition. Eating right and moving more are important which is why you will find tons of easy, healthy recipes and weight loss tips. The mind and spirit are integral too which is why I collect and share motivational quotes. Words have power. A steady supply of inspiring words are also essential to my success.
I love devotionals. I've been reading them daily for years. I've decided to begin sharing a weekly devotional specific to weight loss. I've found it helpful to read and re-read it every day of the week, until I have it committed to memory. The positive words soak into every part of my being refreshing me and giving me strength.
This week's devotional about courage and connection helps explain the success of WW and its structure as a support network. There's power in associating with people who are working toward the same or similar goals.
My Weekly Weight Loss Devotional: Look Within

Looking within my soul, I experience the unconditional love of God.
If I ever consider that I may be limited in some way, I remember that God loves me just as I am. It is important for me to love myself unconditionally as well.
I am changing the way that I look and feel physically, because this is something good I can do for myself--not because I love myself any less the way I was or am now. My spiritual nature is healthy and whole, and now is the time for me to reflect this inner glow physically and emotionally.
As I look within, I find the spiritual fortitude to achieve my ideal weight.
The spirit of God infuses me with strength of soul and body I experience a lightness of Spirit that is reflected in my appearance. I seem to stand taller and walk with greater assurance. Keeping a healthy frame of mind, I maintain a daily practice of praying and thinking positively and eating and exercising wisely.
"I have loved you with an everlasting love" ~Jeremiah 31:3

I enjoyed your devotional and all your recipes. I have a question about substitutes. I can intent rice or cream cheese. Is there a good substitute for them in a recipe?
Happy Thanksgiving.
Sylvia Lovett
I meant to say I cannot eat rice or Cream Cheese.

Hi Sylvia,
Substitutes for Cream Cheese: "1 cup pureed cottage cheese [or] 1 cup plain Greek yogurt. There are also nondairy versions of cream cheese sold in grocery stores.
Substitutes for Rice: Brown rice rice, wild rice, quinoa, barley and bulgur.
