Smoothies can be tricky when you are trying to be mindful of what you are eating - and especially when you are trying to lose weight.
So what do you do if you want a special treat - like a delicious chocolate banana smoothie?
You have to be a little more mindful of the ingredients and quantities that you are adding and try not to overdo it.
The tricky thing with smoothies is that they are liquid calories and somehow our brain's don't really register that we are still consuming calories - because we are not chewing, we are drinking them instead. As a result, it's all to easy to consume more calories than needed without even realizing it.
That's why we tried to note the larger smoothie recipes below that could be divided into multiple servings. Or, if you're making a smoothie for one, just do your best to cut the ingredients in half.

Simple Chocolate Banana Smoothie Recipe
Basic Chocolate Banana Smoothie
Ingredients
- 1 banana fresh or frozen
- 1-½ tablespoons unsweetened cacao powder
- 1 tablespoon almond butter I prefer crunchy, but smooth tastes great too
- ⅓ cup unsweetened almond milk
- Ice optional if you want it colder
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to blender. Blend until smooth. Pour into glass and enjoy.
