If you love the taste of fried food but not excess calories and fat, this appliance delivers. Here at Hungryland, we’ve gotten pretty good at re-creating fried food sans guilt with our own “faux-fry” oven method. But I’ve gotta say, the recipes we tried in our air fryer came out even crispier. It gets better: We tried them with and without a small amount of oil (per the air fryer instructions) and found that NO added oil is needed to achieve that crispy finish.
It’s NOT a uni-tasker. I’d hesitate to recommend splurging on a kitchen gadget that can only do one thing. So I was pretty happy to learn that our air fryer can also bake, grill, and roast. I’m talking meatballs, steak… even muffins and cake! The manual includes a comprehensive chart with foods, temps, and times, which I LOVE.
It’s a time saver! My oven takes around 10 minutes to pre-heat, but an air fryer takes only about 3 minutes. Plus, some recipes cook WAY faster in an air fryer… My butternut squash fries were air-fryer ready in just 12 minutes, versus the 35 minutes they take in the oven!
Clean-up is a breeze. No messy pans or oily skillets. You can toss the fryer pan and the basket right into the dishwasher when you’re done with ’em.
The built-in timer has an auto switch-off feature to keep the absent-minded chef in check. Have you ever gotten distracted while something was in the oven and returned to burnt food? Our air fryer’s self-timer turns off the unit when time is up!

The first bite of a yummy dessert is for the taste. The second bite is to enjoy it. The third bite is just redundant!
My biggest “aha” was when I realized to stop worry so much about total weight loss and instead set small goals. So now, I only focus on 5lbs. When I reach my 5lb goal, I start over. It has brought joy back to my journey.
My “aha” moment was when I signed up and as an experiment put my ‘healthy’ meal options in and realised how many points I was actually eating in a day and why I wasn’t losing weight! Explained a lot!
My biggest Aha is to make sure that I eat enough protein so that I stay full. That will keep me from eating non-healthy snacks. Also, I need to stay away from sugar!
I’ve learned not to beat myself up if I have a bad day or even a bad week. This is a lifelong journey not a sprint.
My biggest aha moment has been planning ahead! I find recipes I want to try and make 2 or 3 to get me thru the work week. As that saying goes, “if you fail to prepare, prepare to fail!” ?
My ‘aha’ moment is when I realized if I change my mindset I can lose weight. I kept telling myself I couldn’t lose weight now because of my age. I have learned that I need to stop telling myself I can’t do it and don’t give up.
My aha moment is that tracking is essential. So easy to “forget” what you had to eat. And even if I ate something not so healthy and too high in points, my phone won’t blow up. I just have to reset my mind and keep going.
Meal prepping. When you fail to plan, plan to fail. I spend Sunday prepping for the week, so when I get up I grab my prepared lunch. I also don’t have to worry about what’s for dinner. I have it all planned and prepped for the week. Makes life so much easier, and it keeps me on track
my biggest “aha” moment was recently – I decided to try to be more healthy and switch from splenda to honey in my tea. did not check the point value and at our meeting, the leader had us pull our pocket guides. I was shocked to learn that “healthy switch” was costing me 4 points each time I had tea – and sometimes it was 2 – 3 times per day. Back to the 0 point splenda I went and the weight is dropping again. I was my own enemy!
