Slimming Bites Inspiration and Recipes for Weight Watchers

But first, here’s a collection of Weight Watchers friendly articles and recipes for you. I call these posts, Slimming Bites from Other Sites and it’s been almost a year since my last last one. Crazy but true.

The internet is such a wealth of  helpful information and delicious recipes for Weight Watchers and others pursuing sensible weight loss and healthy balanced living.

I love sharing my favorite discoveries with you here.

Enjoy!

‘Diet’ products can make you fat, study shows – If you’ve questioned why sugar is so expensive on Weight Watchers SmartPoints Program, you’ll want to read this.

Researchers found that rats fed a diet high in sugar but low in fat — meant to imitate many popular diet foods — increased body fat mass when compared to rats fed a balanced rodent diet.

The high-sugar diet induced a host of other problems, including liver damage and brain inflammation. (ScienceDaily)

10 Reasons I Love Weight Watchers — Alexis, a Weight Watchers Ambassador who has lost 115 pounds and kept it off over the past 2+ years, talks about the advantages of Weight Watchers over other weight loss programs.

As a fellow WW and active lifetime member, I agree with every one of her points.  (Organize Yourself Skinny)

Cheesy Italian Cauliflower Bake — A Weight Watchers friendly, gluten-free, low carb alternative to baked pasta with just SmarPoints from Alisha – I can’t wait to try.  (Meal Planning Mommies)

Healthy Greek Nachos — Like Kristen, I can see these becoming a staple in our house this summer as the weather is heating up and I naturally turn to recipes that are more fresh and light. Make them vegetarian by skipping the chicken and using either hummus or chickpeas instead. (Slender Kitchen)

Weight Watchers Friendly Vegan Snacks — A collection of snack recipes for those who want to try to keep animal products out of their diet. (Snack-Girl)

All About Air Fryers — If you love the taste of fried food but not excess calories and fat, this appliance delivers. Here are five reason an air fryer is worth the hype and four recipes to try. (Hungry Girl)

AIR FRYER GIVEAWAY DETAILS…

We are giving away the Cozyna Air Fryer (Original 3.2L), recommended by Hungry Girl who said…

If you love the taste of fried food but not excess calories and fat, this appliance delivers. Here at Hungryland, we’ve gotten pretty good at re-creating fried food sans guilt with our own “faux-fry” oven method. But I’ve gotta say, the recipes we tried in our air fryer came out even crispier. It gets better: We tried them with and without a small amount of oil (per the air fryer instructions) and found that NO added oil is needed to achieve that crispy finish.

It’s NOT a uni-tasker. I’d hesitate to recommend splurging on a kitchen gadget that can only do one thing. So I was pretty happy to learn that our air fryer can also bake, grill, and roast. I’m talking meatballs, steak… even muffins and cake! The manual includes a comprehensive chart with foods, temps, and times, which I LOVE.

It’s a time saver! My oven takes around 10 minutes to pre-heat, but an air fryer takes only about 3 minutes. Plus, some recipes cook WAY faster in an air fryer… My butternut squash fries were air-fryer ready in just 12 minutes, versus the 35 minutes they take in the oven!

Clean-up is a breeze. No messy pans or oily skillets. You can toss the fryer pan and the basket right into the dishwasher when you’re done with ’em.

The built-in timer has an auto switch-off feature to keep the absent-minded chef in check. Have you ever gotten distracted while something was in the oven and returned to burnt food? Our air fryer’s self-timer turns off the unit when time is up!

  1. Realizing my 70th Birthday was approaching last year, although going to the gym 5 days a week, I looked in the mirror and, honestly, after losing, gaining, losing, gaining I knew the time has come to STOP DIETING AND BEGIN MY WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY THROUGH A HEALTHY PLAN. That was my AHA moment. WW is a blessing since it truly is not a diet but a way of life.

  2. When you are able to let go of anger and learn that tomorrow is another day it becomes the biggest aha moment in your life because one day you actually wake up and get it right! It is from that day forward that you understand how WW is not a diet that deprives but it is a way to live that you enjoy.

  3. Biggest aha moment….it is only the “voice in my head” that discourages me. Staying positive and surrounding my head with positive reinforcement from WW support and sites like this works! Lastly…if I think I’m hungry…I’m likely dehydrated – drink more water!

  4. After 40+ years as a WW member, and now 3 successful weight loss journey years (yes, I admit it–the journey part finally sunk in), my AHA moment came this spring when I discovered that journaling really works. I’ve had my WW tools for year, but never held myself truly accountable. My journal serves as a planner as well as a record keeper, and it is very satisfying to write everything down in advance and then ENJOY the healthy meal I’ve prepared.

  5. I’ve bee trying to eat as clean as possible. Trying to stay away from processed foods. I’d LOVE to win the fryer! Thank you for the chance.

  6. I learned that I am an emotional eater. Not just when I needed comfort but when I was frustrated, tired or even as a reward. I had to find other ways to nurture myself and plan for those times. Have a soothing bath with bath salts on hand, a favorite book to read, journaling daily with self talking through the cravings, leave the house and go for a walk or meet a friend for coffee, take a nap! All these alternatives are self nurturing which is what I needed. 60 pounds down!

  7. My Aha Moment was when I finally understood that eating healthy meant feeling healthier and not just looking better. I can now listen to my body when it tells me I’m eating too much higher calorie foods. I feel bad. I feel good when eating healthier. It’s that simple. I have no desire to eat the foods that make me feel bad. I lost 60 lbs. and have kept it off now for 5 years. I’ll never go back to overeating high calorie foods.

  8. Preparation is key for me! I spend some time on the weekend making lunch to take to work, shopping for all that I may need for the week both fresh and frozen so I have things on hand. Canned tuna and canned chicken are pantry staples so I always have some lean protein on hand when fresh chicken is gone. Also, having some protein in the morning has made a difference in my energy level through the day. On Sundays I make a frittata or crustless quiche( I use 6 eggs and a carton of egg whites) and may toss in some veggies. Then I can just reheat a bit for the next few mornings before work. Roasting a big pan of veggies is something I regularly do to prep and can use in a multitude of ways through the week as well.

Would love to try an air fryer! Sounds like an awesome gadget! Thanks for the opportunity!

  9. That I would not be hungry being on Weight Watchers. That I just have to change my way of looking at food and my appetite.

  10. Eat the things you like but in moderation. I have found that a small piece of really nice chocolate is so much more satisfactory than a large piece of mediocre chocolate. I make more considered choices.
