WW Recipe of the Day: Skinny Peanut Butter Banana Strawberry Wrap

The inspiration for this quick and easy sweet and satisfying lunch was included with a little recipe insert in the ProteinUp Flatout flatbreads I picked up at Costco.

The fancy addition of crunchy granola and fresh fruit rolled around a peanut butter and fruit spread slathered wrap sounded too good to resist. It’s a healthier alternative to your classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich made on squishy white bread.

When I recently posed the question, “What’s your favorite quick and easy breakfast for summer?” on a recent post, Patti said: “I like using the Flat Out whole wheat flatbread, smear some mixed PB2 (affiliate link) (or peanut butter) on it and roll a banana up in it — my ‘banana cigar!’ You can also add a sprinkle of granola for some texture.

It turns out she has been making this for years after trying to make a healthier version of a breakfast item her local Tropical Smoothie Cafe that she loved but had way too many points involved!

Have you tried flatout breads?

They’re very popular with many of my Weight Watchers friends, so when I saw them for a great price at Costco I decided to give them a try.

The idea of eating protein enhanced bread that would keep me satisfied longer seemed like a good idea.

Recipe Notes

I followed the basic recipe for this peanut butter banana strawberry wrap provided in a little recipe booklet that came with the flatbreads.

To make it a bit more Weight Watchers friendly, I used less fruit spread and granola, shaving away 2 SmartPoints.

Of course, you can get creative with the substitutions when making this wrap. Shave a point by using a high fiber low carb tortilla (affiliate link) in place of the flatbread.

Try a different nut butter, thin slices of apple or maybe some raspberries and thin slices of mango. The combinations are limitless.

Substitute reconstituted PB2 (affiliate link) for the peanut butter.

Served with a side of fruit, this was a fun and healthy lunch.

How Many Calories and WW Points in this Sandwich Wrap?

Recipe Variations

Different Nut Butters
Almond butter, sunflower see butter, or PB2 for less fat and fewer points.

Different Fruit
Thin slices of apple or pear would be nice, raspberries, mango, etc.

Different Fruit Spreads
Any flavor jam or fruit spread would work, as would apple butter.

No Granola
Skip it and save a point. Substitute a few mini chocolate chips, or chopped nuts.

No Flatout
Substitute a tortilla, stuff into a pita bread, layer on an english muffin or make a traditional sandwich.

    Hi Martha —

I was looking for a new strawberry recipe and came across this recipe. I was surprised to see you mentioned “Patti” in this about her “banana cigar” idea. I think I’m that Patti! I didn’t see any little recipe card, though. I’ve been making this for years after trying to make a healthier version of a breakfast item our local Tropical Smoothie Cafe had that I loved but had way too many point involved. Thanks for the mention!
