The mind and spirit are integral too, which is why I collect and share motivational quotes. Words have power. A steady supply of inspiring words are also essential to my success.

I love devotionals. I’ve been reading them daily for years. I’ve decided to begin sharing a weekly devotional specific to weight loss. I’ve found it helpful to read and re-read it every day of the week, until I have it committed to memory. The positive words soak into every part of my being refreshing me and giving me strength.

Don’t Miss This: Weekly Weight Loss Devotional: You Are Worthy

This week’s devotional is about the importance of focusing on learning. Eating better and losing weight are new skills, and like any new skills they take time, patience and practice to develop.

My Weekly Weight Loss Devotional: Focus on Learning

“I am learning more about myself each day, and I give thanks to God for my capacity to learn.”

Life is a spiritual journey, and every day I am learning something new.

I am learning about what is good for me: what foods give a boost to my overall health and what exercises give me the best workout. I am also learning about my emotions: how I can achieve greater peace of mind. I am learning about my spirituality: how to more deeply experience the presence of God. As I learn, I nourish my body, nurture my mind, and enrich my soul.

The most important detail I can know about myself is that I am a spiritual being, walking a spiritual path with God. With each step I take, I remind myself that I am learning and growing.

I give thanks to God today for my capacity to learn. With each lesson, I gain a greater understanding of my true self and of my ability to accomplish whatever I set out to accomplish–and even more.

“Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me.” ~Matthew 11:29
