Losing weight is a body, mind and spirit proposition. Eating right and moving more are important which is why you will find tons of easy, healthy recipes and weight loss tips. The mind and spirit are integral too which is why I collect and share motivational quotes. Words have power. A steady supply of inspiring words are also essential to my success.
I love devotionals. I've been reading them daily for years. I've decided to begin sharing a weekly devotional specific to weight loss. I've found it helpful to read and re-read it every day of the week, until I have it committed to memory. The positive words soak into every part of my being refreshing me and giving me strength.
This week's devotional is all about the power of imagination and visualization. The mind does believe what we tell it. Remember how vividly you used to pretend back when your were a kid? We need to bring that back as adults. Taking time each day to sit, relax and visualize yourself succeeding with your intentions and reaping the rewards is a worthwhile investment.
My Weekly Weight Loss Devotional: Imagine That
"Inspired by the wisdom of God, I expect to succeed and I do."
In my mind, I carry an image of what I will look like when I successfully reach my goal weight. When I am tempted to binge, I imagine that new me and thank God for the willpower to continue.
When I am in a situation in which it may be easy for me to overeat, I envision myself making healthy choices and eating only what I need.
On days when any exercise seems to be too much, I visualize myself moving more freely and having more energy. I imagine myself climbing stairs, riding a bicycle or walking. Whatever I imagine, I am preparing myself to do. I thank God for the ability to both envision and accomplish something important to me.
My inspiration comes from God, and God knows and understands my every thought, dream, and hope. I can be successful in attaining what I have imagined because through the wisdom of God, I am being shown what I can do.
“The Lord searches every mind and understands every plan and thought." ~1 Chronicles 28:9
