(30 Days of Juicing Day #9 - My First "Celebrity Juice")
This is one of Blake Lively's favorite juices, according to Women's Health in their article: 3 Amazing Juices for Weight Loss.
(Full Disclosure: at the risk of exposing vulnerability and in the name of cultivating authenticity and self-compassion I had no idea who 'Blake Lively' was until I Googled her. To say that I'm disconnected from contemporary culture is a major understatement.)
The Skinny on My First "Celebrity Juice"
According to the article, "The parsley and beets act as a natural diuretic, helping to eliminate excess fluid from the body." The recipe is featured in The Juice Generation: 100 Recipes for Fresh Juices and Superfood Smoothies.
Rod and I both gave this juice high marks for drinkability. I can see why it would be Ms. Lively's "Go To Drink." I've used pineapple a few times in juice now. I am beginning to think it has magical powers to make greens more palatable.
According to my calculations each serving has 153 calories and *4 Weight Watchers Points Plus. (I only counted the juice from the beet, pineapple and apples to determine the points plus. I'm not concerned about the negligible calories from the greens.)
Enjoy!

"I come from a Southern family, so my taste leans more towards butter and sugar than veggies. A few years ago, I had a juice that changed it all for me—a mix that's better than any po' boy you'll ever eat. The vegetables in their purest form are refreshing and palate cleansing." (Blake Lively)
"Juicing was the beginning of a deeper understanding of nutrition. I'm pushing myself to go as green as I can with juicing and keep the fruits to a more modest percentage. I feel better and it keeps my energy more even." (Edward Norton)
"Juicing helps feed my soul and feed my cells and the carrots help me read the fine print." (Katie Couric)
"I feel like I'm being rewarded with every sip, especially with the green juices, and watching my children drink all those greens is the greatest feeling, knowing they are consuming all the right nutrients." (Naomi Watts)
"Juice cleanses are the perfect way to get back on track after you've had a weekend full of consecutive pig-out sessions. They're also just an easy, great way to do something healthy for your body." (Gayle King)
"Making healthy food choices and preparing them takes a great deal of time, often time that I don't have. Juicing takes the work out of the equation. I can't think of anything that makes me feel as good and is as easy to do." (Michelle Williams)
"I started a personal juicing program, which has had a profound effect on maintaining high energy levels, clear skin and fast-growing, healthy hair." (Martha Stewart)

I am confused about how much these various recipes make. There is no information given regarding the number of servings in most of the juice recipes provided. Are they all for one serving? And is that the assumption for the rest of the juicing recipes to come?

Hi Barbara,
Sorry for your confusion. If you look in this recipe for the celebrity juice in the nutrition notes it says "entire recipe." Others have said "Serves two" or "Per cup." So, they are different recipe by recipe. It's really hard to get more precise than that because there are so many variables around how much juice the different fruits and vegetables yield. These include juiciness, size, and the kind of juicer you are using. Since beginning this project I've been using the same glass to drink my juice from. I add about 6 to 8 ice cubes and then pour the juice into the glass. I'd say that I've been drinking somewhere between 10 and 12 ounces each morning. If the recipe makes more than than I share it with my husband or place the extra in a mason jar and put in in the fridge for later. Hope this helps.
