Weight Loss Success Story: Steffanie H.
Tell Us A Little Bit About Your Weight Struggle
It was a very unique journey, losing over 50 pounds of fat but gaining muscle, to tone and sculpt my body. That weight loss period of time took me approximately 6-8 months and I'm not done.
I love me so much that I wanted to make that change but because I don't do diets, this weight loss experience was a bit delayed, as far as how fast I could lose the weight.
What Was Your Wake-Up Call Or "A-Ha Moment" That Caused You To Really Commit Yourself To Succeeding?
My sole purpose for losing weight was to look and feel great and then keep it off forever. I was so tired of wearing extra clothing in order to cover up my bloated belly. Feeling tired all of the time was another reason I wanted to see a change.
I also didn't feel as sexy as I wanted to when I saw myself in the mirror.
The reason for my weight gain was due to giving birth to three beautiful (single birth) children; however, the changes that your body goes through with each pregnancy shows on your body, especially if you're short like I am (5 ft. tall). So, if you're a mom you know how I feel.
How Have Your Eating Habits Changed Since Beginning Your Journey? What Did You Eat Before And What Are You Eating Now?
After further research, I understood the importance of the foods I enter into my body, my temple, and learned how to eat to feed my organs and not necessarily my taste buds.
This journey somewhat reminds me of my adventure with locking my hair and all of the mental self-sabotaging thoughts that came to mind to stop me from accomplishing my goal—because the mind will play tricks on you while you're trying to lose weight or whatever challenges you're facing just know that you will be tested by your own mindset.
I eat lots of fruits, vegetables, starch, and some fish for healthy fats, and maybe from time to time a little piece of red meat. But my salad is the biggest portion of the meal on my plate!
What Is The Difference In Your Fitness Before You Started And Now?
Basically, if you break it down, it's 80% of what you eat and 20% fitness and that is the secret solution to losing weight and keeping it off.
Of course, the food will be nutritious. If not in the beginning you don't care to desire healthy-tasting foods, due to adjusting your particular palate, you will eventually begin to appreciate the natural essence of taste sensations that our nutritious food provides.
When it comes to fitness, we all really know what to do, move your body! The only difference I had with my fitness before I started and now is that now I look and feel great!!!
What Has Been The Biggest Change/Payoff For You So Far?
I look and feel great! This year I will be 50 but I look and feel as though I'm in my late 20's! I have more energy than I did when I was younger because of my better eating habits.
My Favorite Recipe Is…
For a quick pop of energy, I like to slice a banana down the middle and add some peanut butter in between the two banana slices and you're good to go!
How Much Weight Have You Lost? How Long Did It Take You To Lose It?
I lost over 50 lbs in 6-8 months.
