I've got a great weight loss success story to share. Read on to learn how Laura, a self-proclaimed soda addict kicked the sugary soft drinks and lost more than 130 pounds in a year and now has energy to be active with her children. I love her words of advice, "When you are at your lowest, always look up! It is possible to concur those fears, anxieties, and doubts and push through even in your 40's! If you surround yourself with a positive community you can achieve great things!"
Tell Us A Little Bit About Your Weight Struggle
I have struggled most of my adult life. My struggle has been mostly my fault with the poor choices I made, while I'm sure some part was due to factors with hormones, infertility treatments etc.
What Was Your Wake-Up Call Or "A-Ha Moment" That Caused You To Really Commit Yourself To Succeeding?
I woke up January 6, 2018, and this light switch happened and I told myself it was now or I wouldn't make it to see my children thrive in this world. I wanted to be a positive influence in their life....someone they were proud of and not ashamed.
How Have Your Eating Habits Changed Since Beginning Your Journey? What Did You Eat Before And What Are You Eating Now?
I was a Dr Pepper addict—large McDonald's coke drinking girl, everyday! So I started with cutting out soda or any sugar drinks.
Then I started changing to a low carb diet. Lastly, I added 1 meal replacement smoothie (usually breakfast) to my regime and it just started to melt off!
We have a local store, The Well Nutrition, that helped me stay on track and stay positive in this journey.
What Is The Difference In Your Fitness Before You Started And Now?
My fitness level....before I couldn't walk up my stairs without being out of breath. Now I can run up and down them with ease. I joined a gym and started small and have learned to love the feeling after you workout a little. Seeing the changes, but more importantly feeling the changes, keeps that motivation going forward.
What Has Been The Biggest Change/Payoff For You So Far?
My confidence has spiked, my energy level has tripled, my health has never been this great....
But the biggest payoff....being able to have energy to be active with my children! Nothing can top that!
How Much Weight Have You Lost? How Long Did It Take You To Lose It?
I started on January 6, 2018, at 319 pounds. As December 3, 2018, I have lost 131 pounds!
Any Advice and/or Words of Wisdom for Others Who Are Struggling?
