I feel so lucky every time I get to share an amazing Weight Loss Success Story with you.
Today’s transformational treat comes from Becka R, who lost 129 pounds with Weight Watchers, after overcoming addiction.
And while losing all that weight was great, she says that what she gained was even better: learning to love herself, be confident, brave, curious and adventurous.
What a terrific role model for her daughter she has become….
Tell Us A Little Bit About Your Weight Struggle
I was a drug addict for many years. After getting sober I gained over 100 lbs. Being a recovered addict is a huge part of my journey. Shortly after getting sober, I became pregnant. That meant more weight. It felt like I was trapped in a prison inside myself.
What Was Your Wake-Up Call Or “A-Ha Moment” That Caused You To Really Commit Yourself To Succeeding?
I didn’t have a wake-up or a-ha moment. I had an opportunity to start Weight Watchers and thought “why not” – what did I have to lose? I figured that gift was put on my path for a reason.
How Have Your Eating Habits Changed Since Beginning Your Journey? What Did You Eat Before And What Are You Eating Now?
I started slow. I started by just tracking and taking things out that were “expensive” in points. I started getting creative, like using a bell pepper stuffed with lunch meat, cheese, and veggies instead of a sandwich with bread.
Now, 2-1/2 years later, I make my meals, instead of eating out. I have fruits and veggies to graze on throughout the day.
My meals consist of proteins, complex carbs, produce. I eat a Quest Bar if I’m craving something sweet to trick my mind.
What Is The Difference In Your Fitness Before You Started And Now?
Before was NO exercise at all. If any, it was to go to the fridge.
Once I started my journey, I joined a local gym.
At first I wandered around having no idea what to do. Then I decided to meet with a trainer once a week. From there came amazing friendships and accountability partners.
Today my exercise consists of 30 – 45 minutes of cardio 3 days a week, weights on my own once a week, Ave training once a week.
I feel the best I’ve ever felt. My mood is amazing, sleep is beautiful and my body is strong.
What Has Been The Biggest Change/Payoff For You So Far?
Losing 129 lbs was great. But learning to love myself, to be confident, to be brave, curious and adventurous is so much better. I hold my head high knowing I did this work. I feel pride, when my daughter tells me she’s proud and me and I inspire her.
My Favorite Recipe Is
I don’t have just one. I love anything that you can crockpot. Stew, roast, noodle soup. Everything!

Advice and/or Words of Wisdom to Others Who Are Struggling?
Remember that every plate is a clean slate. If you slip up and make a poor choice, your next meal is your chance to start over.
NEVER, NEVER stop going.
