Hi everyone,
I'm excited to be sharing an incredible success story with you today. Fiona has lost 103 pounds in the past 13 months by revamping her diet and exercise. A prior junk food junkie and couch potato, she now nourishes her body with healthy food and gets high on exercise. How wonderful is that?
I loved what she said about the importance of positive self-talk and making sure you are in positive environments.
Read this and see if you're not motivated to eat a healthy lunch and then take a power walk while listening to positive music. I know I am.
Take it away Fiona...

Tell Us A Little Bit About Your Weight Struggle
I had been overweight since I was at least 10 years old and I just slowly put on weight each year. When I was about 25 I ended up on an anti depressant that made my weight skyrocket even further. I ended up being 130 kilos (286 pounds) now I'm 82 kilos (180 pounds) which is only 7 kilos (15 pounds) from my goal weight.
My clothing size was a 24/26 Australian sizing and now I'm in a size 14.
I don't think I saw how big I actually was when I looked in the mirror or photos... when I look back at photos now I obviously see the difference but I think I was blind to it before.
I was still able to work and do all the things I needed to do in order to function and look after my family so I probably told myself I was not too bad. I had also never really made any attempt at loosing weight before.
In less than six weeks I will be having a full body lift for the excess skin I now have which is exciting - then hopefully at some point soon I would like to have my arms done.
When I first started the journey ahead looked SO FAR way ... looking back I feel like I blinked and now I'm at this end of the journey with part 2 yet to come (a life of healthy living)
What Was Your Wake-Up Call Or "A-Ha Moment" That Caused You To Really Commit Yourself To Succeeding?
When I realized I was just going to keep getting bigger and bigger. Once I had gotten to 10 kilos (about 22 pounds) there was no turning back.
How Have Your Eating Habits Changed Since Beginning Your Journey? What Did You Eat Before And What Are You Eating Now?
I went from absolute junk - any nutrition I put on the plate was totally outweighed by empty white carbs. Chips, burgers, fries, donuts, fizzy drinks, you name it… If it was unhealthy, I ate it… And I ate it everyday.
Now I eat mostly protein. All my carbs are things like brown rice, bread, pasta, etc. I also eat a lot of protein mixed with vegetables.
I now view food for what it really is - what's going to fuel my body in the best possible way! What I was doing to my body before was killing it, now I am providing it with the best fuel that I can.
What Is The Difference In Your Fitness Before You Started And Now?
I first went from no exercise, to doing 15 minutes on my stationary bike at home 5 days a week, to now being able to run 10km. I have done all sorts of exercise… From the gym to classes to walking with friends to running.
What has surprised me a lot is that walking/running/exercising has become like a "high" for me, which I never would have thought would ever have happened when I was at the start of all this! Now I always want to push further!
I've realized that it is important to have fitness goals so you don't give up when your scales don't move.
My journey and attitude is now more evenly balanced - 50/50 weight loss and fitness - and I'm really looking forward to the rest of the journey!!!
What Has Been The Biggest Change/Payoff For You So Far?
I'm the fittest I have ever been! There's more of a variety of clothes I can buy. Seeing the faces of people who haven't seen me since I started, or at least in the last 6 months… The look of shock on their faces lets me know just how far I've come! I also like that I can run farther that my athletic 9 year old 🙂
How Much Weight Have You Lost? How Long Did It Take You To Lose It?
I have lost 47 kilos (about 103 pounds) in 13 months.
Advice and/or Words of Wisdom to Others Who Are Struggling?
