Slimming Bites Inspiration and Recipes for Weight Watchers

But first, here’s a collection of Weight Watchers friendly articles and recipes for you. I call these posts, Slimming Bites from Other Sites and it’s been almost a year since my last last one. Crazy but true.

The internet is such a wealth of  helpful information and delicious recipes for Weight Watchers and others pursuing sensible weight loss and healthy balanced living.

I love sharing my favorite discoveries with you here.

Enjoy!

‘Diet’ products can make you fat, study shows – If you’ve questioned why sugar is so expensive on Weight Watchers SmartPoints Program, you’ll want to read this.

Researchers found that rats fed a diet high in sugar but low in fat — meant to imitate many popular diet foods — increased body fat mass when compared to rats fed a balanced rodent diet.

The high-sugar diet induced a host of other problems, including liver damage and brain inflammation. (ScienceDaily)

10 Reasons I Love Weight Watchers — Alexis, a Weight Watchers Ambassador who has lost 115 pounds and kept it off over the past 2+ years, talks about the advantages of Weight Watchers over other weight loss programs.

As a fellow WW and active lifetime member, I agree with every one of her points.  (Organize Yourself Skinny)

Cheesy Italian Cauliflower Bake — A Weight Watchers friendly, gluten-free, low carb alternative to baked pasta with just SmarPoints from Alisha – I can’t wait to try.  (Meal Planning Mommies)

Healthy Greek Nachos — Like Kristen, I can see these becoming a staple in our house this summer as the weather is heating up and I naturally turn to recipes that are more fresh and light. Make them vegetarian by skipping the chicken and using either hummus or chickpeas instead. (Slender Kitchen)

Weight Watchers Friendly Vegan Snacks — A collection of snack recipes for those who want to try to keep animal products out of their diet. (Snack-Girl)

All About Air Fryers — If you love the taste of fried food but not excess calories and fat, this appliance delivers. Here are five reason an air fryer is worth the hype and four recipes to try. (Hungry Girl)

AIR FRYER GIVEAWAY DETAILS…

We are giving away the Cozyna Air Fryer (Original 3.2L), recommended by Hungry Girl who said…

If you love the taste of fried food but not excess calories and fat, this appliance delivers. Here at Hungryland, we’ve gotten pretty good at re-creating fried food sans guilt with our own “faux-fry” oven method. But I’ve gotta say, the recipes we tried in our air fryer came out even crispier. It gets better: We tried them with and without a small amount of oil (per the air fryer instructions) and found that NO added oil is needed to achieve that crispy finish.

It’s NOT a uni-tasker. I’d hesitate to recommend splurging on a kitchen gadget that can only do one thing. So I was pretty happy to learn that our air fryer can also bake, grill, and roast. I’m talking meatballs, steak… even muffins and cake! The manual includes a comprehensive chart with foods, temps, and times, which I LOVE.

It’s a time saver! My oven takes around 10 minutes to pre-heat, but an air fryer takes only about 3 minutes. Plus, some recipes cook WAY faster in an air fryer… My butternut squash fries were air-fryer ready in just 12 minutes, versus the 35 minutes they take in the oven!

Clean-up is a breeze. No messy pans or oily skillets. You can toss the fryer pan and the basket right into the dishwasher when you’re done with ’em.

The built-in timer has an auto switch-off feature to keep the absent-minded chef in check. Have you ever gotten distracted while something was in the oven and returned to burnt food? Our air fryer’s self-timer turns off the unit when time is up!

  1. I would say definitely portion control and knowing my limits with “trigger” foods (for me that’s salty stuff, like Cheez-It crackers, chips, pretzels, etc). I can still have those foods but I’m much more in control now that I portion them out into serving or point sizes!

  2. My best “aha” moment is when I am craving sweets or salty things, I take a walk or do a “hands on” project for awhile. Concentrating on what I am doing (other than eating) makes me forget all about my previous cravings. Would love to try cooking in an air fryer, would change things up in this house.

  3. That it’s harder to give up sugar cold turkey than I thought. Thanks for the chance of winning something that can give me a healthier future than I had before.

  4. I am new to this, but I’d say my aha moment was coming to except there would be highs and lows but to stick it out. I have to stay focused on the big picture.

  5. Biggest moment was the reality that I have to weigh/measure/read labels. Many, many foods are way higher in points than I thought. I have seen a lot of posts about the airfryer it looks amazing.

  6. My aha moment was when I realized i could still eat the things I loved on the WW program and how important tracking your food really is.

  7. My biggest “aha” moment has been food journaling. It’s a little scary how many times we just taste something……and all of that adds up! I also have found that my memory doesn’t remember things the way I think it does…..so I either add up less or more calories daily than I should! Food journaling takes all the guess work out of the weight-loss game….plus helps me to figure out what may be responsible for a small gain a day or two later.

Thank you for the chance to win an air-fryer. I have heard amazing things about them!!!

  8. Meal planning is for sure is my best helper to avoid fast/easy (and definitely not super nutritious) restaurant /processed food. Using Slender kitchen to plan my shopping list gets me organized, saves time and money and ensures we have delicious meals that everyone likes (with leftovers for lunch!)

  9. My biggest a-ha moment was to realize I could enjoy the foods I love- By finding low point substitutions that still satisfied my cravings! Thanks for the giveaway opportunity!
