THE WINNER OF THE GIFT CARD & ESSENTIAL OILS IS:

Janice who said, “Martha, you are truly a GODSEND, as you have inspired me through healthy cooking. I committed to 2018 with WW online, drinking more fluids, walking 3 miles a day ( I am a retail manager and probably get more than 3!), leaving my worries at my doorstep, smiling more, focusing on my renewed daily spiritual connections, doing little things that make my team happy with any expectations, and yes, taking time for my “ME ” time. I have also “played” around with essential oils due to tremendous back pain, and have found some relief. Thank you for being so inspiring and great recipes!”

Congratulations, Janice!

Today I am dropping in with some food for thought…

how to balance exercise and nutrition to reach your goal weight

“Where will you live…if you don’t take care of your body?”

Good question, right?  It is a variation of Jim Rohn’s quote, “Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live.”

I first heard this powerful statement years ago at a Weight Watchers meeting. I’ve never forgotten it.

I used to be one of those people who spent much more time and energy taking care of my stuff – clothes, shoes, car, house, yard – than myself.

It’s crazy when you stop to think about it. Spending so much attending to things that are easily replaced instead of YOU, which is irreplaceable!

Not any more.

I’m not suggesting that we neglect our stuff.

But, where “stuff” is concerned, I have learned to say, “good enough” and have moved myself way up on my priority list.

My goal is to get rid of as much extra “stuff” as possible to free up more time for all the things that matter to my body, my mind and my soul: cooking nourishing food, exercising, prayer, time with family and friends, and other forms of self care.

What about you?

Do you take better care of your “stuff” than you do your self?

Do you think about your body, mind and soul as your most prized possessions?

Is it time to shift your priorities and invest more in what really matters?

Spring, with its promise of new possibilities, is the perfect time for just such a reset!

Thank you, Martha, for your inspiration. Today’s quote about deprivation is ME. I have had dessert every single day of my journey for the past year and have lost 64.4 lbs. I do not feel deprived. I feel WW is sustainable because I don’t feel deprived. I AM a WW; I am not ON WW. Such a difference. Thank you for all you do for the WW community! I recommend your site to everyone!

  1. I plan to take better care of myself this spring by improving how many hours of sleep I get. My goal is to get at least seven hours of sleep. Not an easy task for me since I’m usually out of the house by 5am to workout.

  2. This spring is a continuation of my WW journey. I am 59 years old. About 5 years ago I lost 26 pounds – I felt great, was back in a size 10 to 12 and NOTHING hurt on my body. Then I started slowly gaining it back. I had 2 cancer operations and put the rest of the 26 pounds back on plus about 10 more. I rejoined WW about a month ago. It is a struggle but one I intend to keep up. I love this new program but I have trouble tracking. I just need to track the “points” that I consume. So, this spring, I plan to start tracking – one day at a time – because my journey is 1 day at a time. Thank you for your inspiring newsletter and recipes.

  3. My intentions and commitment are to get outside everyday possible to work out in some way! Winter is hard for me because I have SAD and live in an area that has a loooooong winter with lots of cold and snow, and cloudy days, I have gone on a weight loss program and have lost 16 lbs. still want to lose a few more so I’m on my way to a healthier lifestyle. Thank you for all the motivation from your posts and recipes. Appreciate it so much. Very encouraging!

  4. I plan to continue to take care of myself by giving me my “me time”. I do this by blocking out an hour 5 days a week to work out. I take time to reflect each day on how my day has gone.

  5. This Spring I will take better care of myself by working with my dentist to improve my oral health and preserve my original teeth. In doing so I will guard my heart health and reduce the possibility of heart attack. I also intend to drink more water and keep myself hydrated.

  6. I will be taking better care of myself this spring by educating myself on health issues for my age bracket. I need to do a better job of keeping my blood sugar under control as well as getting more quality sleep. I also recently learned that I have an enlarged thyroid, so I will be doing a lot of research on that topic. I wonder if there are any eo’s which are associated with thyroid health?

  7. So far, I have lost 118 lbs and I am within 2 lbs of reaching my goal! I have not been a very active person for the past year due to having two orthopedic surgeries in 2017. This spring I am going to move more. I feel better than I have for many years. I had felt like I was having to sit on the sidelines and watch life go by. Now I feel like I can get back in the game!!!

  8. I had been doing good on my quest to lose weight. I had lost 18 lbs. and then attended a weekend concert in Las Vegas. Needless to say it was where the shooting occurred. I have been emotionally eating since Oct. we are heading towards our 6 month “anniversary” of the shooting. I have decided I will start taking care of myself again. I will not let that guy ruin what I had started. Determined to start the journey again.
