THE WINNER OF THE GIFT CARD & ESSENTIAL OILS IS:

Janice who said, “Martha, you are truly a GODSEND, as you have inspired me through healthy cooking. I committed to 2018 with WW online, drinking more fluids, walking 3 miles a day ( I am a retail manager and probably get more than 3!), leaving my worries at my doorstep, smiling more, focusing on my renewed daily spiritual connections, doing little things that make my team happy with any expectations, and yes, taking time for my “ME ” time. I have also “played” around with essential oils due to tremendous back pain, and have found some relief. Thank you for being so inspiring and great recipes!”

Congratulations, Janice!

Today I am dropping in with some food for thought…

how to balance exercise and nutrition to reach your goal weight

“Where will you live…if you don’t take care of your body?”

Good question, right?  It is a variation of Jim Rohn’s quote, “Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live.”

I first heard this powerful statement years ago at a Weight Watchers meeting. I’ve never forgotten it.

I used to be one of those people who spent much more time and energy taking care of my stuff – clothes, shoes, car, house, yard – than myself.

It’s crazy when you stop to think about it. Spending so much attending to things that are easily replaced instead of YOU, which is irreplaceable!

Not any more.

I’m not suggesting that we neglect our stuff.

But, where “stuff” is concerned, I have learned to say, “good enough” and have moved myself way up on my priority list.

My goal is to get rid of as much extra “stuff” as possible to free up more time for all the things that matter to my body, my mind and my soul: cooking nourishing food, exercising, prayer, time with family and friends, and other forms of self care.

What about you?

Do you take better care of your “stuff” than you do your self?

Do you think about your body, mind and soul as your most prized possessions?

Is it time to shift your priorities and invest more in what really matters?

Spring, with its promise of new possibilities, is the perfect time for just such a reset!

Thank you, Martha, for your inspiration. Today’s quote about deprivation is ME. I have had dessert every single day of my journey for the past year and have lost 64.4 lbs. I do not feel deprived. I feel WW is sustainable because I don’t feel deprived. I AM a WW; I am not ON WW. Such a difference. Thank you for all you do for the WW community! I recommend your site to everyone!

  1. Martha, you are truly a GODSEND, as you have inspired me through healthy cooking. Thank you for being so inspiring and great recipes!

  2. I don’t want to live where many of the people I know live now–in a state of despair, fighting cancer or wounds that won’t heal because of their out-of-control diabetes. I don’t want to live not being able to recognize my loved ones or having to depend on them to take care of me. I want to be healthy, independent and happy, so I have finally started taking better care of myself, eating a nutritious and balanced–and delicious–diet. I am now enjoying exercising with a group of people my age who make it fun. I am now LIVING!

  3. I plan to get back to basics. Basic food, no processed or fast food if possible. Scratch that, I will get back to basics! Whole foods, water, and track my eating.

  4. This Spring I plan to train for a 5K race. My goal is to try to run 3 times a week. I enjoy being outside breathing in the fresh air. I’m going to try to eat better. I plan to go to the local Farmer’s Market and buying fresh fruit and vegetables. I plan to try to drink more water.

  5. During the month of April, my goal is to get at least 7 hours of sleep every night. Also hoping the flu bug that has dogged me since the beginning of February is behind me so that I can run three days a week.

  6. I plan on drinking more water this spring and taking advantage of the state park next door for hikes!

  7. I just got a 14 week old husky puppy, so I am forcing myself to walk (run!) more and drinking more water after the many walks we go on. I need to get healthy to keep up with the pup and my 14 year old son, and we are both monitoring what we eat from different food groups and menu planning to avoid binge-ing on whatever is convenient.

  8. Taking better care of myself started on Jan. 6th of this year. I joined WW and have never felt better about myself and how I’m doing on the program! Your yummy recipes and support have helped me a lot, Martha! Now that Spring is here, I plan on being outside more to get more exercise as I breathe in the fresh air. The local Farmer’s Market will open where I can purchase fresh produce for my daily eat-at-home meals. I am finally near the top of my priority list!

  9. I will take better care of myself this spring by walking more: it is hard to get out during winter days.

  10. This spring I will take better care of myself by drinking more water, continuing to excercise 30 or more minutes 6 days a week, and eating more protein.
