The ease and convenience of a slow-cooker is unmatched. Slow cooking eliminates the constant hovering required when you’re cooking on the stovetop. Slow cooking is a lot more forgiving than sautéing, baking, broiling roasting or grilling. And best of all, slow cooking, provides leftovers so you don’t have to cook everyday unless you want to.

Sometimes you don’t have the time or patience for the specifics of a recipe your you’ve got a few odds and ends you need to use up. This great chart shows you a simple mix and match formula to put together a wide variety of slow cooker meals.

You just pick an ingredient from each of the following categories and your good to go:

  • Proteins
  • Vegetables
  • Liquids
  • Herbs
  • Flavor boosters

The chart includes a few examples for each section, but you can experiment with the formula using what you have in the fridge and let your creative juices flow. The chart also suggests you start by pre-cooking your meat and veggies, but being the lazy cook I am, I usually just skip this step and nobody is the wiser.
