Tell Us A Little Bit About Your Weight Struggle
I was a 18 years old when this struggle started. I didn’t realize then what I was doing with my body.
I was very lethargic with no energy. I was embarrassed to meet new people.
And obesity comes with many issues, I got PCOD.
Then finally i started working out.
What Was Your Wake-Up Call Or “A-Ha Moment” That Caused You To Really Commit Yourself To Succeeding?
I came back home from my College Farewell. And was just checking out the pictures and that was my “A-Ha Moment” or wake up call.
When I saw myself, standing beside my friends who were of my age, but I was looking like a giant in front of them. This was the day I decided I need to shed this weight.
How Have Your Eating Habits Changed Since Beginning Your Journey? What Did You Eat Before And What Are You Eating Now?
Before losing weight, I was eating a lot of junk food.
When I first started, it was very difficult to change my eating habits. You need lot of self-control, but then eventually I started reading about nutrition a lot and what I should include in my diet and what should be reduced.
I have not stopped eating anything—there are cheat days—but yeah I know what I have to eat and how to prepare that.
I love experimenting with food to make it more interesting. And I love what I eat now.
What Is The Difference In Your Fitness Before You Started And Now?
I have lost almost 40 kgs (about 88 lbs.) of my weight.
When I started i was 104 kgs. (about 230 lbs.). Now I weigh about 64 kgs (about 141 lbs.). I know losing weight is hard and it requires a lot of determination and motivation, but it’s definitely not impossible, because if I can do it, anybody can do it!
What Has Been The Biggest Change/Payoff For You So Far?
The biggest change is my confidence.
Prior to my weight loss, I used to hide from people.
But now I am super confident to talk to everybody and anybody.
And of course the clothes. You can fit into your dream outfits!
How Much Weight Have You Lost? How Long Did It Take You To Lose It?
I have lost 40 kgs. (about 88 lbs.) so far. I am still working on myself—to become a better version of myself.
It took me almost 30 months to lose this weight.
My Favorite Recipes Is…
I have 2 favorite recipes I’d like to share…
1. Guacamole Toast
I am a big fan of Avocados. Take a ripe Avocado mash it add juice of 2 lemons to it.
Add some onion, tomato and green chili. And then add some salt, black pepper and cumin powder.
Then take multigrain toast, place some basil leaves and on top of the basil add some guacamole and a tablespoon of Greek yogurt (optional).
2. Chicken Quinoa Salad
- 1 chicken brest cut into cubes
- 50 grams (1/3 cup) of quinoa
- Bell peppers
- Sweet corn
- Cabbage and spinach (optional)
- Peanuts (optional)
- Olive oil
- Salt and pepper
- In some olive oil, saute the chicken cubes and add some salt and pepper to taste.
- Start boiling the quinoa.
- In a pan, take some olive oil and add some bell peppers, peanuts, cabbage and spinach and cook it for a while.
- Now add the boiled quinoa and saute it for a minute.
- Add some chicken cubes and sprinkle a little salt and pepper and it is ready to serve.
Any Advice and/or Words Of Wisdom You’d Like To Share?
I just want to say that it’s not at all impossible. Be confident. If you feel there is a need for improvement in anyway, start working on yourself.
Try checking out some workout videos to see if they inspire you to workout.
One thing that worked for me was, I used to wear 44 waist jeans and every time I wanted to motivate myself, I used to bring the smaller size in which I was not able to fit in.
This motivated me to workout more and more, and today I have come down to wearing a 28 waist trouser.
So, keep trying and be positive towards yourself!
