Tell Us A Little Bit About Your Weight Struggle
I had been obese my whole life, constantly on diet from the age of 10 but they never stuck. I would constantly use food as a comfort and to deal with my chaotic life and emotions.

I have been working on overcoming binge eating disorder which made me gain 75 pounds between the ages of 17-20. I am still working on my weight and have an ultimate goal of losing 125 pounds.

What Was Your Wake-Up Call Or “A-Ha Moment” That Caused You To Really Commit Yourself To Succeeding?
Honestly, it wasn’t just one moment but a build up of events. I was sick of feeling embarrassed of myself. I had a kid walk up to me and say “you’re fat” and walk away. Out of no where. Kids will be kids but it makes you think, is that all that people see of me?

Then a month or so later someone told my boyfriend “your girlfriend is a cow”. People’s words just hurt. I was tired of feeling sad, embarrassed and sorry for myself. I was tired of my back hurting and getting winded from walking up a flight of steps.

One morning I just woke up and said I’m doing it this time and it stuck.

How Have Your Eating Habits Changed Since Beginning Your Journey? What Did You Eat Before And What Are You Eating Now?
My eating habits are night and day different. First of all, I struggled hugely with binge eating. I had a horrible relationship with food and used it for comfort to deal with my chaotic life.

Now that I count calories and carbs, I can’t even begin to imagine how many calories I was eating per day. I now eat for hunger and nourishment. I don’t depend on food for happiness. I eat whole foods, fresh fruits and vegetables, tons of protein. Before it was all fast food and frozen. My body is so so so happy!

What Is The Difference In Your Fitness Before You Started And Now?
Again, night and day difference. As I said, I couldn’t even walk up the stairs. Never ran a day in my life. I would pretend to be sick in gym class and track day when I was younger. Now I workout 5X a week and am on track to running my first 5k.

What Has Been The Biggest Change/Payoff For You So Far?
My physical and mental health. I am just so much healthier and happier. My body feels good and my mind is more clear. I have a better relationship with myself and with others.

I’m working on my social anxiety and trying to connect with more people and put myself out there. I want to start living my life! I spent so long hiding and avoiding things that now it’s my time to enjoy the world!

Any Advice and/or Words of Wisdom for Others Who Are Struggling?
Your weight does not equate to your worth as a human being. I was just as worthy when I was 100 pounds heavier as I am today. All bodies are beautiful and all bodies deserve to be loved!

Sometimes losing weight is what it takes for us to see that, and that’s okay! We need to do what it takes to make us feel comfortable in our own bodies and it’s okay to love yourself more after weight loss! Just as it’s okay to love yourself at any weight.
