These WW friendly baked apple cinnamon donuts satisfy my sweet tooth without resulting in a sugar high/crash! And much lower in fat/sugar than bakeshop, donut shop and grocery store doughnuts.
Baked Pumpkin Donut Recipe Variation:
Substitute pure canned pumpkin for the applesauce for healthy baked pumpkin doughnuts.
The doughnuts can be eaten as is, sprinkled with powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar or decorated with your favorite icing and chopped nuts and/or candy sprinkles.
I sprinkled mine with a little cinnamon and sugar and drizzled them with icing I made by stirring together 2 heaping tablespoons of confectioners' sugar with 1-2 teaspoons of apple juice (water or milk would work too) to achieve a drizzling consistency.
