Positon a rack in the center of the oven and preheat the oven to 400F degrees. Grease a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan well.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flours, salt and baking soda until well blended.
In another bowl, stir together the egg, oil, honey and buttermilk until well combined.
Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the milk mixture. Mix well and add more buttermilk if necessary, to create a soft and slightly sloppy mixture.
Pour into the greased pan.
Sprinkle some sunflower or sesame seeds on top, if desired.
Bake in the center of the oven for 1 hour or until the bread is browned and crusty and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
Remove from the oven and cool on a wire rack. (For a softer crust, wrap in a clean dish towel before placing on the wire rack to cool.)
Recipe Notes
Darina suggests that for a healthy seed bread, you can add to the dry ingredients 1 tablespoon each sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds and cracked wheat, reserving a little bit of the mixture to scatter on top before baking.I used all white whole wheat flour with good results.Serving size: ½ thick sliceClick here to see your WW PersonalPoints for this recipe and track it in the WW app or site.3*SmartPoints (Green plan)3*SmartPoints (Blue plan)3*SmartPoints (Purple plan)2*PointsPlus (Old plan)
