The first thing to catch my eye in the the Early Spring 2019 Issue of Eat This Not That (affiliate link) Magazine was this enticing photo of tomato soup with the captions: "Soup's On" and "Soothe Your Hunger."
As a longtime believer in the slimming powers of soup, I was drawn in. Here's what the article went on to say...
"Tuck into a satisfying bowl of creamy tomato bisque as an appetizer and you'll consume fewer calories overall."
Turns out that soup is one of the most effective ways to lose weight. Recent research found that the texture and consistency of the soup in your bowl might make a difference in how few calories you consume during a meal.
In a study published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition, participants were asked to rate their satiety level after eating either a solid meal, a chunky soup like chicken vegetable or a smooth soup like a butternut squash or tomato bisque.
The Result: The thick, smooth soup proved more satisfying than either the chunky soup or the solid meal! GO SOUP!
