The Misto Olive Oil Sprayer is designed to let you lightly spray oils and vinegars onto your foods, instead of drenching them - a good thing when you are trying to lose weight and stay healthy. (Every tablespoon of oil has 3 WW PointsPlus value.)
I've had my Misto Olive Oil Sprayer for months and really love it. Before that I was a regular user of PAM and similar non-stick cooking sprays, but was always hated the smell of the chemical propellants.
The Misto is refillable and non-aerosol (free of chemical propellants), so in addition to using it for spraying onto your pans for nonstick cooking, baking, and grilling, you can spray it directly onto foods including:
- Salads
- Roasted and broiled vegetables
- Baked fries
- Grilled and broiled breads (sandwiches, paninis, bruschetta, crostini, garlic bread, etc.)
- Breadcrumb topped foods and casseroles
It's one great kitchen tool when you want to control the quantity and quality of fats and oils you use when you are cooking. And since you can refill it, it's more economical and environmentally friendly than those disposable cans. Did I mention, that it's better looking too?
The sprayer is available in brushed aluminum, eggplant, red, and light blue.
It's simple to use. You just fill it halfway up with your favorite olive oil and screw the sprayer on. (It's important not to overfill it, so there's space for the air required for it to spray properly.) Then use the lid to pump it a few times, creating air pressure, remove the lid, and spray your oil directly where you want it. It's really as simple as that.
It's easy to clean the Misto with just a little warm water and detergent. I've heard some people claim that the nozzle gets clogged. But it's never been a problem for me. I think the keys are to only fill it halfway up and clean the nozzle with hot water every now and again. It's also suggested that after spraying, you give the cap a quick turn to release the pressure and prevent oil buildup in the nozzle.
You can find the Misto at most cooking related shops and on Amazon.

I am fairly happy with the Misto Olive Oil
Sprayer I bought last year. It works by using less oil which has to be
healthier and it will save dollars as well.

Hello, I am a Weight Watchers member and I just purchased a Misto sprayer. Do you know how to measure pointsplus with it? How many sprays is 1 tsp?
Martha McKinnon
Hi Jessica,
I am not sure how many sprays in a teaspoon. My suggestion is use your Misto to spray into a teaspoon and see how many it takes to fill it. I'm traveling at the moment, but will also test it out when I get home.

Hi Jessica,
I'm not sure how many sprays in a teaspoon. The best way would be to test it out. Just spray into a measuring teaspoon to see how many it takes to fill it up.
