Most people come to Simple Nourished Living for a recipe which I am happy to provide. I have been sharing WW friendly recipes here since 2012.
There are times when I am tempted to share only recipes because they get found, read and shared way more often than posts like this one and they are far easier and less personal to write.
But as a lifetime Weight Watcher committed to helping as many people as I can live happy, healthy, balanced lives, I know I would be doing you a disservice and perpetuating the lie that lasting weight loss is just around the next corner, with the latest diet or recipe for a lightened up cake or zero points soup.
Lasting weight loss is a body, mind and spirit proposition.

While the food you eat and recipes you make are important, they are only one piece of the puzzle, and a much smaller piece than you might imagine when you are just embarking on your journey toward lasting weight loss success.
Which is why I also share weight loss articles and tips, lists of favorite resources and inspiring success stories.
And why I created my 28-day Smart Start Weight Loss eCourse and eBook. (Most people bail on their latest weight loss attempt in less than two weeks. Don't be most people!!)
I was reminded of this today at my weekly weight loss/healthy living meeting. (My mom, sister and a few neighbors/friends are meeting Fridays at noon to connect and support each other in our desire to lose weight, eat better and get fit.)
As we shared our successes and struggles, I realized that each of us is dealing with challenges so much bigger than food. Health issues. Family issues. Work issues. Relationship issues. Self image issues. Self worth issues. Boundary issues.
Addressing these issues are integral to the success we seek and will never be fixed by "eating less" and "moving more."
I feel inspired and nourished as we come together each week. Taking the time to address our health and weight holistically, looking at the bigger picture, we gain much needed perspective.
Our relationship with food changes as our relationship with ourselves and those around us change, creating an environment where healthy habits become sustainable.
So while I know you most likely landed on this blog today in search of recipes, I hope you will be inspired to stay for the ongoing encouragement, support and understanding that will help you reach your goals.
PS: Because it takes more than recipes you'll also find weight loss articles and tips, lists of favorite resources and inspiring success stories here on Simple Nourished Living.
It is also why I created my 28-day Smart Start Weight Loss eCourse and eBook. Most people bail on their latest weight loss attempt in less than two weeks.
Don't be most people.

Thank you! This was a great post.

Would love more of this. It is those emotional, social, financial issues that so often create the stress that makes it biochemically or behaviorally difficult to lose weight/stick to a food & exercise plan!

Thanks, Hortense. I agree 100%!

I'm currently going to WW and close to my goal weight. I'm 73 and this is the third time I've gone back to WW to lose weight. Some of it is my fault for falling back into bad habits, and some is due to being sick and having to take prednisone for 3 years which causes weight gain and makes losing weight almost impossible. The biggest lesson I've learned is that this is a way of living and not just a way of losing weight. We need each other for support and advice and also to be there for others. Your website has been such a big help to me. I've gotten so many great tips and recipes from you and encouragement from the posts of others who are travelling the same road. Thanks for all you do.

Thank you Martha, I really enjoy your posts and they keep me going. I've lost 18 pounds now and have another 15 to go. Keep up the great posts - the inspiration I really need. Loved this post

This article is wonderful and very helpful for me. My husband and I are new to this new WW program so yes recipes are the only thing I have thought about for us. But after reading this I see they have very little play in a long term loss for us. Thank you for helping me see weight loss for us as more then what I may be cooking up.

So happy you found this helpful, Renae! Thanks for letting me know. ~Martha
