Have you tried Tejava unsweetened iced tea? I remember having it for lunch several years ago when visiting by brother in California, but hadn't really thought about it until recently, when the folks at Crystal Geyser Water Company offered to send me a bottle to sample.
I rarely buy bottled iced tea - mostly because it's usually loaded in sugar and I think it tastes funny.
But I drink a fair about of homemade unsweetened iced tea. It's a great alternative on the days I need a change from the large glass of water that I seem to always be replenishing. (You need to drink a lot of water when you live in Arizona. Just ask Francie, my Golden Retriever. I spend as much time filling her water bowl as I do my glass!)
I like unsweetened iced tea because it's inexpensive, calorie free and good for you. Tea is high in antioxidants that have been shown to boost your immune system, lower stress hormone levels and prevent cognitive decline. (My grandmother - a huge tea fan - lived to be 93-years old.) I usually make sun tea from inexpensive Irish tea bags I get at Fresh & Easy. So this Tejava was a special treat for me.
The literature that accompanied the bottle of tea, describes Tejava as the only 100% all natural, microbrewed and ready-to-drink iced tea made entirely from select, handpicked tea leaves from the island of Java. Unsweetened and calorie free, Tejava is made with no added tea flavors, sweeteners, preservatives, or artificial ingredients. It's made from high quality tea and Crystal Geyser water.
I'm far from being a tea connoisseur, but I thought this tea tasted great. It was rich and full bodied with absolutely no aftertaste. It tasted like tea, pure and simple. And to be honest, better than the sun tea I regularly consume. I drank the whole liter in just one afternoon!
