Before the question, “How long is hamburger meat good for?” can be answered, it’s important to know…
- Whether the hamburger meat is raw or cooked
- How fresh it was when you placed it in the refrigerator
- If the refrigerator maintains a temperature of 40 or colder
- If the raw meat was kept cold when transported from the store
As you can see, there are lots of variables to answering the how long is hamburger meat good for question.

Hard Boiled Egg
There are several approaches for how to hard boil an egg and they all work, with varying degrees of success. I’m always on the lookout for the best recipe or cooking technique, which is:
- As streamlined as possible
- Tastes great
- Delivers consistent results
The biggest issue is exactly how long do you cook hard boiled eggs so they are fully cooked yet don’t have that ugly gray/green ring around the yolk? After a bit of research I’ve finally found the recipe for perfect hard boiled eggs that works best for me and think it will work well for you too.

If you grew up drinking lemonade from a can or making it with powdered mix or frozen concentrate, you may not be familiar with how to make lemonade with lemon juice. Making lemonade from fresh squeezed lemon juice is actually very easy. I think it tastes a lot better too. All you need to make fresh lemonade is a few lemons, water, and sugar.

Where can the large woman find plus size yoga clothes that are reasonably priced and stylish?
As a yoga teacher who specializes in teaching yoga to beginners of all ages and sizes, it’s a question I get asked from time to time.
If you are slender and young, you have lots of choices for yoga clothes, especially if you have an unlimited budget. Yoga studio boutiques burgeoning with $80 yoga pants are not uncommon these days!
But what if you are a large woman with a limited budget? Where’s the best place to shop for plus size yoga clothes? [click to continue…]

If you could only have one cookbook, what would it be? Which cookbook do you consider your ‘go to’ cookbook. I love to cook and have lots of cookbooks, but if I could have only one, which one would I keep?

I am immensely enjoying Food Network Healthy Appetite host Ellie Krieger’s cookbook, The Food You Crave: Luscious Recipes for a Healthy Life
. I couldn’t justify buying another cookbook given the size of my collection but it called to me from the bookstore shelves and reeled me in with its more than 200 great sounding recipes.
Just like her show, The Food You Crave, is devoted to helping you make luscious recipes that are healthier. I love her approach to cooking –real ingredients prepared simply enough for everyday, yet interesting enough for entertaining. She proves that healthy food can be delicious–bursting with flavor, color, and aroma — and deeply satisfying.

Commercially prepared muffins can be real diet disasters. More cake than muffin, they are usually huge (3 to 4 servings) high in calories, and full of unhealthy ingredients. A single-serving muffin, the size of one you would make at home in a standard 12-cup muffin pan, can fit into a healthy eating plan, especially if it’s packed with nutritious ingredients like whole-wheat flour, flax, fruit, nuts and eggs.

I first discovered Victoria Moran on Oprah years ago and have been enjoying her books ever since. Reading her warm and personal writing on topics of wellness, aging, weight loss, yoga, healthy eating, spirituality and leading a charmed life feels like receiving advice from my long lost spiritual big sister.

Have I mentioned that I love yoga? It’s the only form of exercise I have ever stuck with for any period of time. It’s been over ten years and I hope to keep practicing forever. I try to get to class at least once or twice a week. The rest of the time I practice on my own or with a DVD as accompaniment.
I arrived back in Phoenix recently after three years in rural Wisconsin. It feels so wonderful to be back, especially at this time of year. One of the best things about being back in Phoenix is getting to reconnect with my favorite yoga teachers and studios. My favorite studio in Phoenix, by far, is A Desert Song Yoga and Massage on 7th Street just south of Camelback. It is an oasis in the desert offering a variety of classes. The studio is relaxed and welcoming, attracting a more mature population than some of the other popular Valley studios. The owner and one of my all time favorite teachers is Mary Beth Markus. She has more than 27 years experience teaching yoga and training yoga teachers.
Kelly is one of Mary Beth’s teachers. While spending most of her time doing massage, Kelly teaches the 10:15 AM gentle class on Tuesdays, which I was lucky enough to attend yesterday. There were about ten of us in class. It was just what my body needed: a slow, gentle, yet deep, workout that stretched, strengthened and balanced me in a calm, safe, soothing, and uplifting way.
Most of the Desert Song teachers are influenced by the Anusara approach to yoga, originated by John Friend. It is a style of yoga that focuses on alignment and heart-focused intention, helping develop body awareness while offering an uplifting message to seek the good in all people and in all things. A lot of my favorite teachers are either Anusara certified or affiliated. The alignment principles have helped me learn how keep myself safe and to take care of my back in any yoga class and I always leave class feeling so much better than when I walked in.
If you live in Phoenix and are looking for a great place to practice yoga, I encourage you to give A Desert Song a try.
