The 21 Day Challenge–No Complaining for 21 Days!

by Martha on January 27, 2008

I am reading a new book, The Four Spiritual Laws of Prosperity: A Simple Guide to Unlimited Abundance by Edwene Gaines, in which she suggests you take a 21 day break from gossiping, complaining, and criticizing to really open yourself up to new possibilities. She calls it a life changing exercise and substantiates this with personal experience. Talk about simplifying your life! I feel lighter and freer just thinking about it!

Often to make way for the good stuff we have to let go of our old limiting behaviors. So, here I am — Day One of my challenge to really think before I speak and refrain from negative talk about myself and others — no bitching, no complaining, no criticizing. The rule is if you do say something negative, you must forgive yourself and start over until you can run a streak of 21 complain free days.

I am really excited about the opportunity to change my behavior in such a positive way. It’s too easy to get caught up in the downward spiral of negativity. I want this year to be different and according to the study of numerology, 2008 represents the first in a nine year cycle perfectly designed for fresh starts and new beginnings.

Is there anyone else interested in joining me in this challenge? I asked my husband and stepson, thinking we could make a little contest of it, but they declined. I invited my mom in a recent email and hope she considers it. Let me know if you want to give it a go. I would love to hear about your experiences and promise to keep you updated on my progress.
