I have a confession to make. I'm an incurable cookbook addict. I love books; especially cookbooks. All kinds of cookbooks - new, old, vintage, All-purpose, specialty, celebrity, healthy, fancy, plain, hardcover, paperback. I just can't seem to help myself. I read them the way most people read novels.
I even bought more bookshelves recently to house my ever-expanding collection.
But in the name of simplification and organization, I'm always trying to thin them out too; holding onto my favorites and letting others go (to make room for more). I usually trade them in at our local used book store or donate them to Goodwill.
Then I saw that Gina over at Skinnytaste was giving hers away and I thought, "What a great idea. I can do that too."
So, giveaways of my gently and barely used cookbooks is something I plan to do regularly this year.
The first up is Cooking Light Way to Cook: The Complete Visual Guide to Everyday Cooking, a wonderful guide to smart cooking techniques for healthy everyday cooking.
1/23/12: Giveaway Over, Congrats to Marge M.! Comments are now closed.
As soon as I saw it at Costco, I knew I wanted to bring it home with me. It's so visually appealing, packed with more than 850 photos that show you how to prepare more than 200 recipes and hundreds of cooking tips.
The first 70 pages are devoted to defining the Cooking Light Way to Cook Healthy, with information on selecting ingredients, stocking a pantry, selecting cooking tools, using herbs and spices, and answers to tons of kitchen "how-tos."
The remaining chapters are organized by cooking technique: assemble, steam, saute, stir-fry, pan-fry & oven-fry, broil, boil & simmer, braise, caramelize, grill, and bake.
The Assemble chapter includes all the ways to prepare food that don't require cooking, including beverages, ice-cream, salads, sandwiches and uncooked fruit and vegetable dishes.
Lots of the recipes utilize flavors from around the world - Greek lamb and red onion kebabs; grilled salmon with korean barbecue glaze; sage risotto with fresh mozzarella and prosciutto; cambodian summer rolls; easy schnitzel; sizzling shrimp with corn relish; tropical muffins with coconut macadamia topping.
Everything from making a tasty marinara sauce to the perfect omelet and souffle, are covered in this comprehensive collection. It's a great resource for anyone serious about learning to cook healthfully and tastefully.

Your cookbook offer is most enticing! I LOVE cookbooks, and have a rather massive collection of them, also. There are many hours that I spend reading them -- should actually spend more time using them productively!
